The principle of proportionality of the systolic area of the central aortic pressure to stroke volume (SV) has been long known. The aim of the present work was to evaluate an in silico solution derived from this principle for modelling SV (iSV model) in cardiovascular safety pharmacology studies by telemetry. Blood pressure was measured in the abdominal aorta in accordance with standard practice.

Coronary artery vasospasm is a rare but fatal postoperative complication of cardiothoracic surgery. This phenomenon can occur directly after surgery or several hours postoperatively. Most reported cases have occurred after CABG surgery and less commonly after valve replacement.

Background: Nicardipine is commonly used in the management of hypertensive crises, except those involving cardiac contractility defects despite its ability to reduce afterload and pulmonary congestion. Consequently, there is limited literature evaluating nicardipine's role for this indication. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nicardipine in adults with reduced ejection fractions presenting with acute heart failure with hypertension (AHF-H).
