We studied new immunological and physicochemical properties of K-activin, immunotropic preparation from porcine skin isolated by the acetone method. The preparation restored the sensitivity of background rosette-forming cells in the spleen of thymectomized mice to the inhibitory effect of azathioprine in vivo and practically normalized serum thymic activity reduced in thymectomized mice. The molecular weight of proteins present in K-activin and previously detected by SDS-PAAG electrophoresis was determined by MALDI mass spectrometry

The oral delivery of peptide pharmaceuticals has long been a fundamental challenge in drug development. A new chemical platform was designed based on branched piperazine-2,5-diones for creating orally available biologically active peptidomimetics. The platform includes a bio-carrier with "built-in" functionally active peptide fragments or bioactive molecules that are covalently attached via linkers.

Turpentine oil, owing to the presence of 7-50 terpenes, has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antibacterial, anticoagulant, antioxidant, and antitumor properties, which are important for medical emulsion preparation. The addition of turpentine oil to squalene emulsions can increase their effectiveness, thereby reducing the concentration of expensive and possibly deficient squalene, and increasing its stability and shelf life. In this study, squalene emulsions were obtained by adding various concentrations of turpentine oil via high-pressure homogenization, and the safety and effectiveness of the obtained emulsions were studied in vitro and in vivo.

Widespread use of antibiotics leads to an imbalance of normal intestinal microflora and to the development of multidrug resistance. The problem can be solved by administration of the antibiotics in combination with the drugs that have an immunotropic effect. We studied the effect of the drug containing technologically processed affinity purified antibodies to IFNγ, CD4 receptor, β2-microglobulin of MHC class I, and β2-domain of MHC II combined with antibiotics on the composition of intestinal microflora of pigs and the total number of microbiome resistance genes.

The in vitro immunotropic actions of a calf thymus extract - thymus factor X (TFX®) preparation were investigated. The preparation did not lower the viability of the A549 epithelial cell line and mouse bone marrow cells in the investigated concentration range. TFX® exhibited a co-stimulatory action of concanavalin A (Con A)-induced mouse thymocyte proliferation and partially restored the mitogen-induced proliferation capability of mouse thymocytes exposed to hydrocortisone (HC).

At present, our country continues intensive research to find and introduce into practice new natural medicinal preparations made from ecologically clean endemic plants of Georgia. An example of such studies in the Iveria-Pharma company is the domestic drug Lazolex (extract of the pericarpium of an unripe walnut), which has passed the necessary preclinical tests and began to be used in the clinic as an antiherpetic agent. On healthy volunteers, we found positive immunotropic effects of Lazolex.
