The manifestation of hydrophobicity at the nanoscale has been shown to depend on the topology of the solute. Using various nanoscopic hydrophobic plates, molecular dynamics simulation has been employed to explore the hydration and dewetting at the nanoscale. The topology of the solute regulates the behavior of nanoconfined water, resulting in any of the wet, dry, and intermittent wet-dry intersolute states. The present result reconciles apparently contrasting literature reports on how water behaves at extended hydrophobic surfaces and sheds light on the mechanism of dewetting.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor endangering women's life and health. Tamoxifen citrate (TAM) is the first-line drug of adjuvant endocrine therapy for estrogen receptor-positive (ER) breast cancer patients. Some sporadic cases have described rare adverse reactions of TAM with potentially life-threatening dermatological manifestations, which were associated with skin allergy.

This study focuses on fabricating photonic crystals (PCs) by surfactant-based particle capture at the gas-liquid interface of evaporating sessile droplets. The captured particles form interfacial films, resulting in ordered monolayer depositions manifesting iridescent structural colors. The particle dynamics behind the ordered arrangement is delineated.

Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) is a prebiotic that promotes the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, but lacks of regulatory function on harmful bacteria. In this study, chlorogenic acid (CGA) was used to achieve the functional enhancement of two LBPs (LBP-A and LBP-M). The combination of CGA resulted in changes in the solution properties of LBPs, manifested as increased pseudoplasticity, viscosity, turbidity, and decreased water mobility, absolute potential value, pH value.

Background Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) manifests as a critical state marked by acute abdominal symptoms, often associated with intestinal barrier dysfunction, exacerbating SAP retroactively. Ganoderic acid A (GAA) demonstrates anti-inflammatory properties in various inflammatory disorders. Nonetheless, its potential therapeutic impact on SAP and the underlying mechanisms remain unexplored.

Persistent inflammation is a major cause of diabetic wounds that are difficult to heal. This is manifested in diabetic wounds with excessive reactive oxygen clusters (ROS), advanced glycation end products (AGE) and other inflammatory factors, and difficulty in polarizing macrophages toward inhibiting inflammation. Berberine is a natural plant molecule that inhibits inflammation; however, its low solubility limits its biological function through cytosis.
