Implicit ligand sampling is a practical, efficient, and accurate method for finding the gas migration pathways for small hydrophobic gas molecules, such as oxygen, inside proteins. The method infers the gas migration pathways by calculating the potential of mean force for the gas molecule everywhere inside the protein by means of a molecular dynamics simulation of the protein in the absence of the gas molecule. Pathways can be constructed by connecting the areas of the protein that are favorable to the presence of gas. This method has the advantage of providing a comprehensive overview of all possible gas migration pathways and barriers in a given protein from a single simulation run. Implicit ligand sampling has been applied to a large number of hemoproteins. The example of the truncated hemoglobin from Paramecium caudatum is given to illustrate the method.

Annealing plays a crucial role for in enhancing the gas sensing properties of MOF-derived TiO (MIL-125). Generally, TiO transforms into different polymorphs (anatase, rutile, and brookite) during annealing, each with unique crystal structures and gas sensing properties. The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of annealing (500-650 °C) on the properties of MIL-125, which had not been previously studied.

Carbon coating on SiO surface is crucial for enhancing initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) and cycling performance in batteries, while also buffering volume expansion. Despite its market prevalence, the effects of the carbon layer's quality and structure on the electrochemical properties of SiO remain underexplored. This study compares carbon layers produced via gas-phase and solid-phase coating methods, introducing an innovative technique that sequentially uses two gases to develop a low-impedance hybrid carbon structure.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is a significant global health issue, being the third most common cancer worldwide and the second most frequent cause of cancerrelated deaths. It occurs when cells in the colon or rectum grow uncontrollably, often developing from precancerous polyps. Genetic predisposition and environmental factors, such as diet and lifestyle, contribute to the disease.

Nowadays, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles are widely used for packaging drinks and food. However, concerns have been raised about the possible migration of harmful chemicals, particularly phthalates, from these containers into their contents. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of sunlight exposure and PET bottle reuse on phthalate migration, focusing on three common phthalates: bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP).

In the study of GaN/AlGaN heterostructure thermal transport, the interference of strain on carriers cannot be ignored. Although existing research has mainly focused on the intrinsic electronic and phonon behavior of the materials, there is a lack of studies on the transport characteristics of the electron-phonon coupling in heterostructures under strain control. This research comprehensively applies first-principles calculations and the Boltzmann transport equation simulation method to deeply analyze the thermal transport mechanism of the GaN/AlGaN heterojunction considering in-plane strain, with particular attention to the regulatory role of electron-phonon coupling on thermal transport.
