Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated risk factors for peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP) among patients undergoing home-based dialysis from 2019 to 2022, identifying critical home operation management issues.
  • - It found that factors like age, primary diseases (e.g., diabetes), dialysis duration, poor storage of dialysis fluid, and inadequate handwashing practices significantly increased the risk of PDAP.
  • - The research emphasizes the need for enhanced training for patients and healthcare providers to improve self-management and reduce the incidence of PDAP through better home practices.

Background: Regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) has emerged as a treatment modality that reduces bleeding risk and filter clotting. With initial experience of using RCA with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), we have formulated a working protocol based on published literature.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the protocol for routine use of RCA during CRRT requiring anticoagulation and evaluation of filter life.

Large placebo-controlled trials have demonstrated kidney and cardiovascular clinical benefits of SGLT-2 inhibitors. Data from the EMPA-KIDNEY and DELIVER trials and associated meta-analyses triggered an update to the UK Kidney Association Clinical Practice Guideline on Sodium-Glucose Co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) Inhibition in Adults with Kidney Disease. We provide a summary of the full guideline and highlight the rationale for recent updates.
