The study discusses the experience gained with application of a complex of methods for early diagnosis of perifocal inflammation in 50 patients with cancer of the colon. Endoscopic, roentgenologic and radionuclide (using 67Ga citrate) methods were mainly employed. Perifocal inflammation was established in 38 (76%) patients. The diagnosis was further confirmed by morphologic examination of resected material. Application of the methods assured early diagnosis of asymptomatic perifocal inflammation associated with tumor.

Tuberculosis remains a serious global problem of our time. The epidemiological situation regarding tuberculosis in the Russian Federation and in Moscow is quite favorable, however, many manifestations of diseases and morphological changes in tuberculosis require a serious approach to the timely diagnosis of the disease, especially intravital morphological verification of the process. The article outlines the main aspects of the pathogenesis of tuberculosis, including deep immunosuppression associated with HIV.

Rationale And Objectives: To investigate the clinical and computed tomography characteristics of inflammatory solid pulmonary nodules (SPNs) with morphology suggesting malignancy, hereinafter referred to as atypical inflammatory SPNs (AI-SPNs).
Materials And Methods: The CT data of 515 patients with SPNs who underwent surgical resection were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into inflammatory and malignant groups and their clinical and imaging features were compared.

Ocular symptoms usually completely resolve after successful transvenous embolization of cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistulas (CS-dAVFs). Herein, we report a case of CS-dAVF in which sinus packing of the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) caused coil-induced inflammation in orbital tissue, leading to deteriorating ocular symptoms. A 73-year-old woman presented with right-eye exophthalmos and chemosis.

P-glycoprotein (encoded by the gene) has a dual role in regulating inflammation and reducing chemotherapy efficacy in various diseases, but there are few studies focused on pulmonary TB patients. In this study, our objective was to identify a list of genes that correlate with high and low levels of gene expression in the lungs of pulmonary TB patients with different activity of chronic granulomatous inflammation. We compared gene expression in two groups of samples (with moderate and high activity of tuberculomas) to identify their characteristic gene signatures.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of surgery in reducing neurological symptoms in patients with focal brain tuberculosis.
Material And Methods: Seventy-four patients with tuberculosis meningoencephalitis were studied. Among them, 20 people with a life expectancy of at least 6 months were identified, in whom foci with a ring-shaped accumulation of contrast along the periphery were determined during MSCT of the brain.
