The incidence of leukaemia was compared in various provinces of Lower Silesia in the years 1972-1985. The highest incidence was in the Province of Wrocław and the Province of Jelenia Góra, in the Province of Legnica it was lower and the lowest was found in the Province of Wałbrzych. A similar sequence of the incidence was found when the analysis was carried out in groups of sex and place of residence (villages and towns). The analysis according to disease entities showed that the incidence of acute myeloid leukaemia was in the Province of Jelenia Góra, where the disease was more common in females. The authors think that the concentration and development of industry may be the cause of differences in the incidence of these diseases in various provinces of Lower Silesia.

Obesity is a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases. There are significant and mutual associations between lymphatic dysfunction and obesity. This case-control study aimed to compare nutrient intake, depressive symptoms, and Eysenck's personality traits in patients with lower extremity lymphedema and overweight/obesity (n = 34) in comparison to patients with lifestyle-induced overweight/obesity (n = 30) and patients with normal body weight (n = 30).

The interrelationship of thyroid volume and function with features of cardiovascular dysfunction has already been investigated but some aspects remain unclear, especially in terms of subclinical cardiovascular dysfunction in euthyroid patients. Intima-media thickness (IMT) measurement in ultrasound B-mode imaging in different vascular beds (most frequently within the common carotid artery) is one of the most important tools for the detection of subclinical atherosclerosis in both clinical practice and research. This article aimed to present the results of our research on the association between the thyroid evaluation parameters and the IMT measured in both the carotid and femoral arteries in euthyroid patients aged 18 to 65 years taking into account the influence of diabetes, hypertension, and excess body mass.

Manganese-based alloys with the composition MnFeZ (Z = Si, Al) have been extensively investigated in recent years due to their potential applications in spintronics. The MnFeSi alloy, prepared in the form of ingots, powders, or ribbons, exhibits either a cubic full-Heusler (2) structure, an inverse-Heusler (XA) structure, or a combination of both. In contrast, the MnFeAl alloy has so far been synthesized only in the form of ingots, featuring a primitive cubic (β-Mn type) structure.

: Heart failure (HF) constitutes a complex clinical syndrome that is highly prevalent worldwide, comprises a serious prognosis, and results in a reduced quality of life. Exercise capacity is one of the most significant parameters involved in the prognosis in HF patients. Our objective was to evaluate the relationship between the selected cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) parameters and the concentration of novel biomarker sST2 in a group of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
