Three serine protease cDNA clones were isolated from Anopheles dirus, a major vector of malaria in Southeast Asia. Transcript abundance was examined following infection by Plasmodium falciparum by RT-PCR analysis. SerF3 exhibited increased transcript abundance in the whole body at 10 days post-infection with P. falciparum. All three genes are candidates for further investigation to determine their roles in mosquito immune responses.

Background: Major mutations (e.g., KRAS, GNAS, TP53, SMAD4) in pancreatic cyst fluid (PCF) are useful for classifying and risk stratifying certain cyst types, particularly in cases with nondiagnostic cytology.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is an aggressive cancer that is notably associated with a high risk of lymph node metastasis, a major cause of cancer mortality. Current therapeutic options remain limited to surgery supplemented by radio- or chemotherapy; however, these interventions often result in high-grade toxicities. Distant metastasis significantly contributed to the poor prognosis and decreased survival rates.

Introduction: Pressure Injury (PI) is a complex disease process which is influenced by multiple factors, among which ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is closely related to the progression of PI. But its biomarkers are still unclearly. Understanding its physiological mechanisms and related molecular biomarkers is a key to developing effective prevention and therapeutic strategies.

TSC2, a suppressor of mTOR, is inactivated in up to 20% of HBV-associated liver cancer. This subtype of liver cancer is associated with aggressive behavior and early recurrence after hepatectomy. Being the first targeted regimen for advanced liver cancer, sorafenib has limited efficacy in HBV-positive patients.

The human transmembrane protease, serine 2 (TMPRSS2), essential for SARS-CoV-2 entry, is a key antiviral target. Here, we computationally profiled the TMPRSS2-binding affinities of 15 antiviral compounds. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for the docked complexes revealed that three compounds exited the substrate-binding cavity (SBC), suggesting noncompetitive inhibition.
