This paper retraces the early history of the European Journal of Neurology (EJN), as it is about to enter its 30th year. It describes how our discipline organized itself during the latter part of the 20th century in Europe. In some ways, the creation and the evolution of the journal parallel the process of unification of Europe in its current form in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Objective: To identify the issues raised by the unsuccessful Voice referendum and propose removal of barriers to reporting and prevention of family violence in remote communities as the most ambitious measure of success in hearing First Nations voices.
Conclusions: The Voice referendum was partly justified to improve the mental health of First Nations Australians, despite concern the process and its outcome might worsen both. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders revealed the tensions that arise between individual and communal interests when marginalised groups fight for self-determination.

Background: Neurodiversity is increasingly discussed in relation to autism research and practice. However, there is a lack of scholarship concerning the neurodevelopmental condition of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and the neurodiversity movement. While this movement may hold opportunities for the DLD community, the application of the concept of neurodiversity to DLD research and practice needs consideration, as DLD and autism have very different levels of public and professional awareness and understanding.

Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most common inherited muscular dystrophies. As part of the FSHD Society's commitment to promote global communication and collaboration among researchers, the Society collaborated with FSHD Europe and convened its 30th annual International Research Congress (IRC) on June 15-16, 2023, in the city of Milan, Italy. Over 240 researchers, clinicians, patients and pharmaceutical company representatives from a wide geographical background participated to hear about the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field.
