Background: Throughout the pregnancy, there is a substantial transfer of calcium from the maternal skeleton to the fetus, which leads to a transient net reduction of the maternal bone mineral density.

Aims: To assess longitudinally the changes in the bone mineral density at the femoral neck between the first and third trimester of pregnancy in a cohort of healthy participants using Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS) technology.

Methods: Prospective, cohort study conducted at the University hospital of Parma, Italy between July 2022 and February 2023.

Unlabelled: The bone health status of a Mexican female population, including a cohort of 455 women aged over 40 years, was assessed by Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS).

Purpose: Assessment of the bone health status in an average female Mexican population with REMS. The secondary objective investigated age- and body mass index (BMI)-related effects on the diagnostic classification and the influence of risk factors for osteoporosis.

Rationale: Streptococcus viridans, a heterogeneous group of alpha-hemolytic streptococci, is part of the normal flora of the mouth, usually responsible for dental caries (Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguinis), and pericoronitis, as well as for subacute infective endocarditis. They are responsible for 40-60% of the endocarditis cases occurring on the normal valves, especially in male patients and over 45 years of age. A change in the bacterial flora of the oral cavity is taking part after orthodontic fixed appliances are introduced into the oral cavity, change that is associated with an increased concentration of the acidogenic bacteria.

Cardiac myxomas are the most common benign cardiac tumor. We investigated the immunohistochemical properties of 11 surgically excised cardiac myxomas, in order to analyze the correlation between macrophages and mast cell populations and clinical parameters. CD68/CD163/iNOS (M0) cells represent the most abundant macrophage phenotype; however, CD68/CD163 cells (M2) were also frequent.

Purpose: The objective was to check if 520 days in confinement (MARS 500), may affect the main peripheral arterial diameter and wall thickness and the main vein size.

Method: Common carotid (CC) femoral artery (FA) portal vein (PV), jugular (JG), femoral vein (FV) and tibial vein were assessed during MARS 500 by echography, performed by the subjects. A hand free volumic echographic capture method and a delayed 3D reconstruction software developed by our lab were used for collecting and measuring the vascular parameters.
