Hepatocellular carcinoma is a lethal disease that requires a multidisciplinary approach and management. Surgical therapy offers long-term survival; however, few patients are candidates. There has been no accepted systemic therapy for this disease until recently. This article briefly discusses the role of RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of the disease and the promising role of sorafenib for advanced disease.

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response to infection, and its occurrence is associated with a poor prognosis in the context of multiorgan dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Although there are several animal models for the study of its etiology, the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) model has been considered the "Gold standard" because it shows a high degree of similarity to the progression of human sepsis. Currently, it is one of the most frequently chosen options to search for therapeutic alternatives to diminish the progression and organ damage induced by sepsis.

As one of the most commonly used chemotherapeutic agents in clinical practice, cisplatin is unable to selectively accumulate in tumor tissue due to its lack of targeting ability, leading to increased systemic toxicities. Additionally, the effectiveness of monotherapy is greatly limited. Therefore, the development of new cisplatin-based drug delivery systems is essential to improve the effectiveness of tumor treatment.
