Epidemiological evidence links high-salt diets and Helicobacter pylori infection with increased risk of developing gastric maladies. The mechanism by which elevated sodium chloride content causes these manifestations is unclear. Here we characterize the response of H. pylori to temporal changes in sodium chloride concentration and show that growth, cell morphology, survival, and virulence factor expression are all altered by increased salt concentration.

Salinity and lead are two important abiotic stresses that limit crop growth and yield. In this study, we assayed the effect of these stresses on tolerant and sensitive maize genotypes. Four-week-old maize plants were treated with 250 mM sodium chloride (NaCl) and 250 µM lead (Pb).

Groundwater is an essential freshwater source worldwide, but increasing pollution poses risks to its sustainability. This study applied a comprehensive approach to assess hydrogeochemical facies and groundwater quality in Odisha's large low-lying coastal regions. Analysis of 136 samples revealed that sodium (9.

The tanning industry is among the most environmentally harmful activities globally due to the pollution of lakes and rivers from its effluents. Hexavalent chromium, a metal in tannery effluents, has adverse effects on human health and ecosystems, requiring the development of removal techniques. This study assessed the efficacy of organobentonite/alginate hydrogel beads in removing Cr(VI) from a fixed-bed adsorption column system.

Skin, as the primary interface with the external environment, is susceptible to damage, posing a formidable challenge for complete restoration in adult skin injuries. Wound healing remains a clinical challenge, necessitating advanced biomaterials to support cell proliferation, modulate inflammation, and combat infections. Among several options, hydrogel can be a capable contender for biological dressings.

Changes in hydration status may affect myocardial native T1 and T2 values and influence the clinical interpretation. We aimed to assess the impact of acute preload augmentation on native T1 and T2. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) native T1 and T2 mapping were performed twice on the same day in 20 healthy participants before and after an acute preload augmentation by a 2-liter intravenous infusion of isotonic sodium chloride (0.
