Background: Tuberculous spondylitis (TS) and brucellar spondylitis (BS) exhibit certain similarities in clinical presentation and imaging characteristics, making differential diagnosis challenging. Developing a reliable differential diagnosis model can assist clinicians in distinguishing between these two conditions at an early stage, allowing for targeted prevention and treatment strategies.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with TS and BS were retrospectively collected and randomized into training and validation cohorts (ratio 7:3).

Objectives: Sarcopenia and malnutrition often occur simultaneously in adults with cardiovascular diseases. Our objective was to determine the associations of preoperative sarcopenia and malnutrition with major adverse cardiac and cerebral events (MACCE) after cardiac surgery.
Methods: We retrospectively analysed 154 consecutive patients who underwent elective cardiac surgery between January 2015 and June 2018 at two institutions in Japan.

Purpose: We performed a combined assessment of skeletal muscle mass using the skeletal muscle mass index (SMI) and the psoas muscle index (PMI) to evaluate their association with the overall survival (OS) of gastric cancer patients after curative gastrectomy.
Methods: We analyzed, retrospectively, the computed tomography records of skeletal muscle mass of patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for pStage I-III gastric cancer between April, 2010 and April, 2016. We then compared OS as the primary outcome, stratifying patients according to their SMI or PMI, and investigated prognostic factors using multivariate analyses.

Introduction: Up to one-third of patients with cerebral palsy (CP) develop hip migration. Current standard care for early hip migration is bilateral adductor-psoas tenotomy; however, the failure rate is relatively high with 34%-74% of patients with CP requiring secondary hip surgery. Using temporary medial hemiepiphysiodesis of the proximal femur (TMH-PF), the morphology of the hip can be changed.
