"Dual fingerprint reagents" are chemical formulations which produce with latent fingerprints in a single step, impressions that are both colored and fluorescent. Pre-mixed solutions of the two commercially available ninhydrin analogues, 5-methoxyninhydrin (MN) and 5-methylthioninhydrin (MTN) with zinc or cadmium salts, are true dual reagents. They are much more sensitive than the parent dual reagent, ninhydrin/ZnCl(2). The main advantage of the new formulations is that they can be used at room temperature, with no need to cool the sample to liquid nitrogen temperature. At 0.05% concentration, which is 10-fold lower than the common ninhydrin working solution, MTN/ZnCl(2) is as sensitive as DFO in the fluorescence mode and considerably more sensitive in the color mode. MTN is also slightly cheaper than DFO.

Background: Multifunctional fluorescent probes have attracted much attention due to their wide range of applications and high utilization. In this study, a multifunctional fluorescent probe (E)-3-(4-(7-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)benzo[c] [1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)phenyl)acrylic acid (TBAC) based on triphenylamine was designed and synthesized.

Results: The TBAC probe provided excellent aggregation-induced emission (AIE) performance and could be used as a fluorescent ink for printing.

Catechins in tea, as promoters of human health, have attracted widespread attention. Herein, a dual-signal mode (colorimetric and fluorescence) sensor array for catechin species fingerprinting was built based on PtNi bunched nanoparticle (PtNi-BNP)--phenylenediamine (OPD)-HO system. PtNi-BNPs catalyze the reaction between OPD and HO to produce oxidized OPD (oxOPD) with both colorimetric (yellow) and fluorescent properties.

A novel remote deep ultraviolet laser ablation inlet connected to a dual electrospray ionization-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (rDUVLAESCI) source is presented. This system allows for the simultaneous and spatial acquisition of mass spectrometry (MS) data for organic molecules with diverse polarities and molecular weights. Deep 193 nm UV laser ablation was used to sample analytes from dried spots for molecular MS analysis precisely.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases. Given the multifactorial pathophysiology of AD, monotargeted agents can only alleviate symptoms but not cure AD. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and Monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) are two key targets in the treatment of AD, molecules that inhibiting both targets are considered promising avenue to develop more effective AD therapies.
