Isolated volar dislocation of the fifth carpometacarpal joint is a very rare injury. We present two cases of isolated volar dislocation of the fifth carpometacarpal joint treated successfully with percutaneous skeletal fixation.

This review provides a detailed analysis of the anatomy, mechanisms, and management of ligamentous and capsular injuries in metacarpophalangeal joints (MCPJs). The MCPJ is a condyloid joint with unique anatomical features, including a sagittal cam effect that enhances stability in flexion. Ligaments, tendons, and joint capsules contribute to the overall stability and mobility of MCPJs.

Dislocations of the distal radioulnar joint associated with a fracture of the distal ulna articular surface without an associated radial fracture are extremely rare. We present a case of a fracture of the distal ulna with an associated dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint, where the articular head fragment was displaced anterior to the sigmoid notch. We also present the results of a formal systematic review of these injuries which confirmed this is the first such injury described, although there is a very similar fracture pattern described in the literature with dorsal dislocation.

Purpose: To document the change of clinical (wrist motion and grip strength) measurements and Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) scores at 9 weeks and 3, 6, and 12 months after distal radius fracture (DRF) in women 50 years and older with exclusively isolated, displaced, and low-energy DRFs treated by either closed and/or open reduction and to relate these outcomes to their radiographic results.
Methods: In this retrospective single-institution cohort study, patients' post-DRF clinical measurements and PRWE scores were prospectively collected from December 2007 through September 2018 and stratified according to their final radiographic values of volar/dorsal tilt, ulnar variance, and radial inclination.
Results: Of the 1,319 women identified, 1,126 (85%) were treated nonsurgically, and 193 (15%) were treated operatively.
