Craniofacial clefts are very rare congenital deformities. Tessier's numbering classification is a simple system universally accepted. Excluding cleft lip and palate, the transverse or lateral cleft (Tessier number 7) is the most common type of craniofacial cleft, manifesting macrostomia without skeletal abnormalities. We present a case of Tessier number 7 cleft with oblique clefting of the soft palate bilaterally and rare symmetric structures of the zygomatic arch.

Background: Soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities (E-STS) are rare and heterogeneous. Treatment combines surgery with preoperative or postoperative radiotherapy (RT) for deep, large, or high-grade tumors. We evaluate the effectiveness and toxicity in E-STS patients treated at our institution from 2015 to 2021.

Background: The Infectious Diseases Society of America recommends a screening dilated retinal examination by an ophthalmologist for all patients with candidemia. Conversely, the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends against routine screening in patients with candidemia without symptoms.
Methods: In a collaborative effort between infectious diseases and ophthalmology, we examined the incidence of ocular complications in 308 patients with candidemia and subsequently measured the rate of fundoscopic examinations, risk factors for ocular complications, management changes, and outcomes.

A true median cleft is an extremely rare congenital anomaly characterized by a midline vertical cleft and various deformities, also known as Tessier number 0 cleft. Here we report a case of a 5-year-old Asian boy with true median cleft associated with sinus tracts in the nasal septum, a phenomenon not previously reported in the literature. The tracts were identified as the cause of recurrent infections around the oral vestibule and upper lip.
