AI Article Synopsis

  • Scanning white-light interferometry is a technique used to analyze the microstructure of both technical and biological samples by capturing interferograms for each pixel.
  • The paper explores optimal evaluation methods and discusses how the resolution of these methods is influenced by the setup parameters.
  • Additionally, a comparison is made between the results of the proposed method and an existing algorithm found in literature.

Article Abstract

Scanning white-light interferometry is widely used for the microstructure analysis of technical and biological specimens. For each pixel in the focal plane of the apparatus a white-light interferogram is acquired and evaluated by means of an algorithm. We discuss some properties of mathematically optimal evaluation methods and the best possible achievable resolution derived therefrom depending on the setup parameters. A comparison of the results to one of the algorithms described in the literature is given.

In the present research work, a solid-state reaction method was employed to synthesize a series of CaGdSbWO:SmEu (x = 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 mol%) phosphors. The phase purity, crystallinity, morphological and compositional studies were analysed via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging, and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis.

YVO:Eu/PMMA, LaPO:Ce,Tb/PMMA and CaWO/PMMA nanocomposites were prepared by in situ polymerization method with hydrophobic YVO:Eu, LaPO:Ce,Tb and CaWO nanoparticles as the filler and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as the host material. All the nanoparticles and composites have been well characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), photoluminescence excitation, and emission spectra and luminescence decays. YVO:Eu/PMMA, LaPO:Ce,Tb/PMMA, CaWO/PMMA nanocomposites exhibit strong red, green and blue photoluminescence upon 254 nm UV excitation, respectively.

Extremely high accuracy is demanded for optics working at very short wavelength. Interferometric testing of optical aspheres or freeform surfaces requires null optics, typically computer-generated holograms (CGHs), to balance the wave aberrations. The measurement uncertainty is primarily limited by the accuracy of the test wavefront, which is predominantly influenced by the CGH and the interferometer optics.

In this study, we present lateral scanning white light interferometry (LS-WLI), where phase-shifting algorithms are applied to inspect the topography of a large field of view (FOV) with high-speed measurements. At a point, the interference signal must be acquired with a specific condition to adapt the phase-shifting algorithm. This means that all points have two points, of which the phase difference is π/2, when the number of points acquired in a phase period is multiple of 4, despite increasing the data points in a period.

In this work, two different composite nanostructures, YAG:Ce and GaInN, were prepared by the Urea Glass Route method and tested for the production of white light. The first composite was prepared by synthetizing the GaInN nanoparticles in the presence of YAG:Ce nanoparticles. The second one was prepared by synthetizing YAG:Ce nanoparticles in the presence of GaInN nanoparticles.
