This article describes the implementation of small-group reading instruction as secondary- and tertiary-level components of a three-tier model of prevention and intervention. The study consisted of 83 students who were targeted in the winter of kindergarten as being at high risk for reading failure. Intervention consisted of evidence-based curriculum delivered in groups of one to six students during 30- to 40-min sessions a minimum of three times per week over a 2-year period. Outcome data were collected for early literacy skills, using the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills and Woodcock Reading Mastery Test, with comparisons across the different curricula. Results indicated that students in the more directed, explicit intervention groups generally out-performed students in the comparison group. Implications for future research and practice implementing schoolwide three-tier prevention models are discussed.

The shift toward student-centered learning in medical education has become increasingly apparent in recent years, particularly in small group learning (SGL) within the MBBS curriculum. Traditionally, SGL has been teacher-led, but data from three polls conducted across three MBBS batches (2019, 2022, and 2023) highlight a notable shift in student preferences toward more active learning methods. While the 2019 batch overwhelmingly favored teacher-led explanations, the 2022 and 2023 batches showed a growing preference for self-directed learning, with "Self-reading and Doubt Clearing" becoming the most popular mode by 2023.

We examined whether Phonics + Set for Variability (SV) reading intervention would lead to better irregular word reading compared to Phonics + Morphology within a cluster randomized control trial (RCT) design with a follow-up measurement. The participants were 273 Grade 2 and 3 students with reading difficulties (139 in the Phonics + SV and 134 in the Phonics + Morphology) who received intervention in small groups (2-4 children), 4 times a week, 30 minutes each time, for 15 weeks. Results of hierarchical linear modeling showed that there was a significant effect of intervention on all reading outcomes (e.

Background: Digital technologies, such as wearable devices and smartphone applications (apps), can enable the decentralisation of clinical trials by measuring endpoints in people's chosen locations rather than in traditional clinical settings. Digital endpoints can allow high-frequency and sensitive measurements of health outcomes compared to visit-based endpoints which provide an episodic snapshot of a person's health. However, there are underexplored challenges in this emerging space that require interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.
