This paper provides a temporal model for the propagation of transient ultrasonic waves in a layered isotropic porous material having a rigid frame. A temporal equivalent fluid model is considered, in which the acoustic wave propagates only in the fluid saturating the material. In this model, the inertial effects are described by the layered tortuosity and the viscous and thermal losses of the medium are described by two layered susceptibility kernels which depend on the viscous and thermal characteristic lengths. The medium is one dimensional and its physical parameters (porosity, tortuosity, and characteristics lengths) are depth dependent. A generalized hyperbolic fractional equation for transient sound wave propagation in layered material is established.

Broadband and large surface enhancements of the local electric field enabled by cross-etched hyperbolic metamaterials.

Hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) have recently attracted significant research attention due to their hyperbolic wavevector iso-frequency contour, which leads to substantial local electric field (EF) enhancements that benefit optical processes, such as the nonlinear generation, quantum science, biomedical sensing, and more. However, three main challenges hinder their practical implementation: the difficulty in exciting their resonant modes using free-space incidence, the weak enhancement of surface EF, and the narrow spectral range of EF enhancements. Herein, we proposed cross-etched HMMs (CeHMMs) as a novel type of HMM, addressing these issues.

Loess is extensively developed on both sides of the Longwu River, a tributary of the Yellow River, Tongren County, Qinghai Province. The engineering geological characteristics are complex, and landslide disasters are highly developed. Based on field geological surveys and physical property analysis of the loess in this area, this study analyzes the influence of water content, consolidation pressure, and soil disturbance on the dynamic characteristics of loess using GDS dynamic triaxial tests.

Advanced microgrid optimization using price-elastic demand response and greedy rat swarm optimization for economic and environmental efficiency.

In this paper, a comprehensive energy management framework for microgrids that incorporates price-based demand response programs (DRPs) and leverages an advanced optimization method-Greedy Rat Swarm Optimizer (GRSO) is proposed. The primary objective is to minimize the generation cost and environmental impact of microgrid systems by effectively scheduling distributed energy resources (DERs), including renewable energy sources (RES) such as solar and wind, alongside fossil-fuel-based generators. Four distinct demand response models-exponential, hyperbolic, logarithmic, and critical peak pricing (CPP)-are developed, each reflecting a different price elasticity of demand.

This work considers a stochastic form of an extended version of the Kairat-II equation by adding Browning motion into the deterministic equation. Two analytical approaches are utilized to derive analytical solutions of the modified equation. The first method is the modified Tanh technique linked with the Riccati equation, which is implemented to extract some closed-form solutions in the form of tangent and cotangent functions.

The (3+1)-dimensional mKdV-ZK model is an important framework for studying the dynamic behavior of waves in mathematical physics. The goal of this study is to look into more generic travelling wave solutions (TWSs) for the generalized ion-acoustic scenario in three dimensions. These solutions exhibit a combination of rational, trigonometric, hyperbolic, and exponential solutions that are concurrently generated by the new auxiliary equation and the unified techniques.
