Severe pain and shoulder stiffness after soft tissue trauma or fracture is a major cause of dysfunction. Some patients may have residual, resistant, significant shoulder stiffness that causes long-term functional impairment. This study reports the results of arthroscopic capsular release in 21 patients who presented with posttraumatic stiff shoulders resistant to nonoperative therapy. They underwent arthroscopic circumferential capsular and subacromial release of adhesions under interscalene block, followed with immediate regular physiotherapy. A highly significant improvement in the range of motion (ROM) was achieved immediately postoperatively (P < .0001). At 6 months, a mean 48% of the ROM gain was lost. Thereafter, ROM steadily improved to a mean net gain of 110% compared with the immediate postoperative time (mean follow-up, 33 months). Most patients (95%) expressed satisfaction with their outcome. Arthroscopic capsular release is a useful treatment for resistant posttraumatic stiff shoulder, particularly to alleviate of pain and restore a functional ROM.

To evaluate the clinical and radiologic outcomes of arthroscopic augmented partial repair (APR) with acellular dermal matrix versus arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) in massive rotator cuff tears. The study included a total of 49 patients with massive rotator cuff tears who underwent arthroscopic APR (26 patients) and SCR (23 patients) between March 2018 and June 2021. The popliteal cyst is a common condition that causes disturbing symptoms. Recognition of lateral capsular disruptions (Baker lesions) that are commonly identified during arthroscopic lateral epicondylitis release is important because understanding that these lesions exist-and the variation of their arthroscopic appearance-is important. In addition, identifying Baker lesions serves as evidence supporting lateral epicondylitis as the cause of symptoms. The purposes of this article are to describe the classification system and to arthroscopically show examples of each lesion type, as well as to describe our technique for arthroscopic lateral epicondylitis release.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe combination of hip arthroscopy and periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) has been proven safe and effective for addressing symptoms in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). As not every patient with dysplasia will require a hip arthroscopy to obtain desired clinical improvement in the setting of periacetabular osteotomy, a challenge is identifying which patients require adjacent procedures (either via arthroscopic or open) to fully treat their hip pathology. Even though labral repair is the most reported arthroscopic procedure in cases of hip dysplasia, I would suggest that labral treatment is the least likely helpful component of hip arthroscopy in these cases.

Background: Arthroscopic repair is recommended for patients with bony Bankart lesions to restore anterior shoulder stability and avoid recurrent glenohumeral instability. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and radiological outcomes of patients following arthroscopic bony Bankart repair using a single suture anchor fixation technique named the "door-locking" technique.
Methods: From January 2017 to February 2024, a consecutive series of 22 patients with acute bony Bankart lesions underwent shoulder arthroscopy.
