One new compound 6-demethylvermistatin (1), together with two known compounds, the penicillide derivatives (2) and (3) were isolated from the mangrove fungus Guignardia sp. No. 4382 obtained from the South China Sea. Their structures were assigned using high-resolution electron ionization mass spectrometry(HREIMS), (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra, DEPT, and by 2D COSY, HMQC, and HMBC experiments. The absolute configuration of 1 was established by comparison of its CD with that of vermistatin.

Alum, an essential additive in sweet potato vermicelli (SPV) production, is harmful to health. To eliminate the harm to the human body caused by alum in sweet potato vermicelli, and considering the different viscous properties of gliadin fractions, an experiment was performed to replace alum with gliadin fractions to enhance the boiling resistance of SPV in this study. The results showed that the longest boiling-resistant time of fresh SPV extended to 34.

Cellulose tosylate (MCC-Tos) is a key derivative for surface modification and a crucial precursor for cellulose compatibilization in click reactions, enabling its functionalization for advanced applications. Replacing tosyl groups with alkyne groups broadens cellulose's potential in biocompatible reactions, such as thiol-yne click chemistry and protein/enzyme immobilization. To achieve this, we optimized the heterogeneous synthesis of MCC-Tos using a Doehlert matrix statistical design, evaluating the influence and interaction of the reaction conditions.

Cathinone and its synthetic derivatives belong to organic compounds with narcotic properties. Their structural diversity and massive illegal use create the need to develop new analytical methods for their identification in different matrices. NMR spectroscopy is one of the most versatile methods for identifying the structure of organic substances.

In order to meet global food requirement, innovation in agricultural techniques and pesticide delivery system will be required for sustainable food supply with minimal harmful impact on environment. This article discusses the synthesis of hydrogels for use in controlled release formulations (CRFs) to increase agricultural output while reducing ecotoxicity and health risks. These hydrogels were designed by graft-copolymerization reaction of polyacrylamide and polyvinyl sulfonic acid onto agar-alginate marine polysaccharides.

Coumarin compounds have heterocyclic core with different properties such as high quantum yields, broad Stokes shifts, and superior photophysical and biological activity. It is known that fluorescence properties increase with increased intramolecular charge transfer in systems where electron-withdrawing or donor groups are attached to different positions of the coumarin compound. When these compounds interact with analytes in the environment, the analytes in the environment can be detected by quenching or increasing fluorescence.
