Objective: It could give some theory support of confirming the secondary metabolism organ and regulation of echinacoside in Cistanche tubulosa by searching parasitic growth of C. tubulosa ahd echinacoside variation in different organs of host and parasite.

Method: The echinacoside content was analyzed by HPLC. The relationship between dry matter accumulation and echinacoside accumulation of C. tubulosa as the well as root diameter of host were comparatively analyzed.

Result: With the increase of dry matter accumulation of C. tubulosa, echinacoside accumulation increased significantly, and both of them were in significantly positive correlated with the root diameter of host. Echinacoside content in haustorium phloem was 15.53%, higher than that of haustorium xylem, C. tubulosa plant and other organs.

Conclusion: Haustorium phloem was probably the secondary metabolism organ of echinacoside in C. tubulosa.

Article Synopsis
  • Complex phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs) like verbascoside and echinacoside are important for their health benefits, but traditional methods for extracting them from plants are not sufficient to meet demand.
  • Researchers successfully engineered yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) to produce these compounds more efficiently from glucose by optimizing various enzyme activities and genetic modifications.
  • The final results showed significantly higher yields of verbascoside (up to 4497.9 mg/L) and echinacoside (up to 3617.4 mg/L) through advanced fermentation techniques in a bioreactor.

Background: Targeting PD-L1 has become a crucial approach in tumor immunotherapy. Echinacoside (ECH) is a natural compound known for its extensive biological activities, its impact on antitumor immunity remains uncertain.

Purpose: This work was designed to assess the effects of ECH on the PD-L1/PD-1-mediated tumor immune evasion and its underlying mechanisms.

Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH), a chronic condition affecting the cardiopulmonary system, has high mortality. Echinacoside (ECH) is a phenylethanoid glycoside, which is used to ameliorate pulmonary vascular remodeling and pulmonary vasoconstriction in rats. Accordingly, we aimed to explore the mechanism of ECH in preventing and treating HPH.
