Questions mark ears are an easily recognisable but uncommon malformation of the external ear. They can be found as an isolated malformation and are a pathognomonic sign of the auriculo-condylar syndrome. An additional unique sign in this syndrome may be present in the form of post-auricular tags. Such malformations should prompt further investigation for other signs of the auriculo-condylar syndrome.

We used machine learning to investigate the residual visual field (VF) deficits and macula retinal ganglion cell (RGC) thickness loss patterns in recovered optic neuritis (ON). We applied archetypal analysis (AA) to 377 same-day pairings of 10-2 VF and optical coherence tomography (OCT) macula images from 93 ON eyes and 70 normal fellow eyes ≥ 90 days after acute ON. We correlated archetype (AT) weights (total weight = 100%) of VFs and total retinal thickness (TRT), inner retinal thickness (IRT), and macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thickness.

There is considerable variability in the management of common orofacial clefts across Europe, reflecting differing opinions on optimal treatments. An updated overview of treatment protocols for orofacial clefts across 26 expert centres in the European Reference Network CRANIO is presented here. A structured questionnaire was distributed to map the surgical protocol and additional standard procedures for cleft palate (CP), unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP), and bilateral cleft lip and palate (BCLP).

Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) regulates endothelial cell (EC) biology through modulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) signalling by presenting VEGFA to VEGFR2. How NRP1 impacts VEGFA-mediated vascular hyperpermeability has however remained unresolved, described as exerting either a positive or a passive function. Using EC-specific Nrp1 knock-out mice, we discover that EC-expressed NRP1 exerts an organotypic role.
