A simple and rapid method for the isolation of bovine heart mitochondrial adenosine 5'-triphosphatase (F1-ATPase) was developed. Mitochondria were purified by differential centrifugation and stored frozen. After thawing. F1-ATPase was released by treatment with chloroform. Purification of the enzyme was achieved by polyethylene glycol precipitation followed by chromatography on Procion Navy H-ER beaded cellulose in the presence of MgCl2. F1-ATPase was eluted by ATP in the absence of MgCl2. The purity of the enzyme was proved by SDS-polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis. The purified F1-ATPase showed slightly non-hyperbolic kinetics towards ATP and nearly complete inhibition in the presence of millimolar concentrations of ADP.

Simultaneous improvement in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and device stability is very important for organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, oligothiophene-based polymer W19 with excellent solvent resistance is exploited as a polymer thin layer to optimize the active layer morphology and then device efficiency and stability. Polymer W19 possesses a simple skeleton of trifluromethyl-substituted dithienoquinoxaline and quaterthiophene, whose thin layer shows suitable energy level, low surface energy, and strong interchain aggregation, leading to outstanding solvent resistance and excellent hole transport ability.

Rapid advancements in nanotechnology have allowed for the characterization of single molecules by placing them in the vicinity of nanoplasmonic structures that are known to confine light to sub-molecular scales. In this study, we introduce a theoretical framework that captures higher-order effects, and we explore the limits of the standard description of a molecular emitter as a point-dipole. We particularly focus on the role played by the emitter chain length and electron conjugation.

The neuronal tau peptide serves as a key biomarker for neurodegenerative diseases, specifically, Alzheimer's disease, a condition that currently has no cure or definitive diagnosis. The methodology to noninvasively detect tau levels from body fluids remains a major hurdle for a rapid and simple diagnostic approach. Thus, developing new detection methods for sensing tau protein levels is crucial.

Self-supported ultrathin PtRuMoCoNi high-entropy alloy nanowires (HEANWs) were synthesized by a one-pot co-reduction method, whose peroxidase (POD)-like activity and catalytic mechanism were elaborated in detail. As expected, the PtRuMoCoNi HEANWs showed excellent POD-like activity. It can quickly catalyze the oxidization of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue TMB through decomposition of HO to superoxide radicals.

Bacterial bloodstream infections cause high morbidity and mortality. Although bacteria can be detected by various methods, culture methods are often used for the detection of live, accurate, reproducible, and selective bacterial identification. However, the culture method is time-consuming, and clinicians often start treatment immediately due to the long determination time.
