Scalp reconstruction, particularly with complex defects and infection risks, often favors microvascular free flaps. However, this method can result in unavoidable alopecia and undesirable aesthetics. Background: Wound closure is the core issue in treating patients with extensive burns. Allogeneic grafts can serve as a suitable temporary substitute in third-degree burns, and the Meek technique has provided encouraging outcomes in recent decades. However, whether allografts and the Meek technique could be used simultaneously so as to leverage the strengths of both has not been extensively examined.

Background: Complex craniofacial trauma is defined as those traumatic injuries that are not responding to initial treatment and may involve chronic infection, tissue exposure, and soft tissue contusions. Typical reconstruction using a Y-shaped microvascular venous anastomotic free flap is labor intensive. Although free flap grafts have been used in many applications, their use for combined microvascular anastomotic therapy remains an unexplored but attractive possibility.

Autosomal recessively inherited variants in the JAGN1 gene lead to congenital neutropenia, early-onset bacterial infections, aphthosis and skin abscesses due to aberrant differentiation and maturation of neutrophils. In addition, bone metabolism disorders and a syndromic phenotype, including facial features, short stature and neurodevelopmental delay, have been reported in affected patients.
