Methane gas leakage can lead to pollution problems, such as rising ambient temperature. In this paper, the Vernier effect of a double D-shaped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) in a Sagnac interferometer (SI) is proposed for the accurate detection of mixed methane gas content in the gas. The optical fiber structure of the effective sensing in the sensing SI loop and the effective sensing in the reference SI loop are the same.

Background: Diphenhydramine is an anti-tussive used periodically to treat seasonal colds, contact dermatitis, and anaphylactic reactions. This study aimed to develop a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model of diphenhydramine in predicting its systemic exposure among healthy pediatrics (children and adolescents) by leveraging data files from adults (young and elderly).
Methods: The data profiles comprising serum/plasma concentration over time and parameters related to diphenhydramine were scrutinized via exhaustive literature analysis and consolidated in the PK-Sim software version 11.

The rapid development of the global chemical industry has led to widespread groundwater contamination, with frequent pollution incidents posing severe threats to water safety. However, there has been insufficient assessment of the health risks posed by chlorinated hydrocarbon contamination in groundwater around chemical industrial parks. This study evaluates the chlorinated hydrocarbon contamination in groundwater at a chemical park and conducts a multi-pathway health risk assessment, identifying the key risk pollutants.

Photoacoustic imaging has emerged as a promising modality for medical imaging since its introduction. Photoacoustic microscopy (PAM), which is based on the photoacoustic effect, combines the advantages of both optical and acoustic imaging modalities. PAM facilitates high-sensitivity, high-resolution, non-contact, and non-invasive imaging by employing optical absorption as its primary contrast mechanism.

Mycomaterials are biomaterials made by inoculating a lignocellulosic substrate with a fungus, where the mycelium acts as a binder and enhances material properties. These materials are well suited as sustainable alternatives to conventional insulation materials thanks to their good insulation properties, low density, degradability, and fire resistance. However, they suffer from mold contamination in moist environments and poor perception ("organic" appearance).
