Raman scattering study of Ca-modified lead titanate.

The paraelectric to ferroelectric phase transitions were studied by Raman scattering in Ca-doped lead titanate ceramics. The soft optic modes responsible for the ferroelectric phase transitions were clearly observed. The A(1)(1TO) mode, which softens toward T(c), contains four subpeaks. The frequencies of these subpeaks depend to a great extent on the Ca content and the temperature. These behaviors are discussed on the basis of the anharmonicity of lattice vibrations.

Background: Plasmonic core-shell nanostructures with embedded internal markers used as Raman probes have attracted great attention in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) immunoassay for cancer biomarkers due to their excellent uniform enhancement. However, current core-shell nanostructures typically exhibit a spherical shape and are coated with a gold shell, resulting in constrained local field enhancement.

When performing effect studies to investigate the impact of microplastic (MP) on cell lines, algae, or daphnia, it is advantageous if such experiments can be performed without the use of surfactants. The need for surfactants arises from the fact that finely milled pristine MP particles generally are hydrophobic.
