C-glycosyl flavones, kurilensin A (1) and B (2), together with two known compounds, tricin-4'-O-beta-d-glucopyranoside (3) and tricin-5-O-beta-d-glucopyranoside (4), were isolated from hot-water extracts of the leaves of Sasa kurilensis. The structure of the compounds was determined by spectroscopic analyses including 1D, 2D NMR and MS. The absolute configuration of sugar moieties in 1 and 2 was determined by chiral HPLC analyses of the benzoyl derivatives of acid hydrolysis. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited higher radical scavenging activity than ascorbic acid in the 1,1-diphenyl-2-pycrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay system.

In this work, a decoction (DOe) and a methanolic global extract (MGEOe), obtained with the aerial parts of Gillies ex Hooker et Arnott (Oxalidaceae), were evaluated. The high-resolution liquid chromatography in conjunction with electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS) analysis showed forty compounds in MGEOe and twenty-nine in DOe, including flavones, C-glycosyl flavones, isoflavones, fatty acids, terpenes, phenolic acids, and sterols. The antioxidant properties were evaluated by DPPH, TEAC, FRAP, and ILP assays.

seed and cotyledon flours were prepared and characterized. Both flours showed high protein and fiber content, and low carbohydrate and fat content. The major storage proteins in flours were albumin and globulin.

Vicenin-2, a flavonoid categorized as a flavones subclass, exhibits a distinctive and uncommon C-glycosidic linkage. Emerging evidence challenges the notion that deglycosylation is not a prerequisite for the absorption of C-glycosyl flavonoid in the small intestine. Capitalizing on this experimental insight and considering its biological attributes, we conducted different assays to test the anti-aggregative and antioxidant capabilities of vicenin-2 on human serum albumin under stressful conditions.

Biochemical gut metabolism of dietary bioactive compounds is of great significance in elucidating health-related issues at the molecular level. In this study, a human gut bacterium cleaving C-C glycosidic bond was screened from puerarin conversion to daidzein, and a new, gram-positive -glycoside-deglycosylating strain, sp. MRG-IFC3, was isolated from human fecal sample under anaerobic conditions.
