This article presents results following the observation of six court hearings of the Tribunal administratif du Québec reviewing involuntary confinement. All 6 hearings concerned individuals considered dangerous. Through thematic analysis of testimonies and interrogations of various people involved (psychiatrist, prosecutor, defence attorney, expert psychiatrist), the author examines signs and points of reference used by those involved to decide on the dangerousness of a psychiatric patient. The results reveal that there is no objective criteria emerging from the hearings and that the way to define the dangerousness of an individual is abstract as well as vague. In fact, it is only in the written decision following hearings one sees the first comments related to dangerousness. The hearing stages psychiatry's and the law's protagonists who discuss among themselves not the issue of dangerousness but rather the implicitness of compulsory treatment the person must share with them. In the written decision, this is what emerges of this discourse which appears to be translated in terms of dangerousness.

Mass univariate testing on functional connectivity MRI (fcMRI) data is limited by difficulties achieving experiment-wide significance. Recent work addressing this problem has used enrichment analysis, which aggregates univariate screening statistics for a set of variables into a single enrichment statistic. Plainfin midshipman fish (Porichthys notatus) exhibit seasonal auditory plasticity that likely enhances their reproductive success. During the summer, type I (TI) male midshipman acoustically court females and both TI males and females exhibit increased auditory sensitivity during this period. The enhanced auditory sensitivity is associated with increased density of sensory hair cells in the saccule but not the utricle, suggesting that different mechanisms underlie physiological plasticity in distinct inner ear regions.

Background: Child Protection Legal Systems around the world work to toe the line between protecting children from possible harms and avoiding inflicting further harm by mistreating or misrecognizing the problems the children in question are facing. Despite growing efforts to enhance children's participation in child protection proceedings, there is still a lot of criticism from families and children directed at the state and the legal system.
Objective: This inquiry attempts to locate at least one of the reasons for such criticism - the feeling of being excluded from the decision-making process.

Background And Objective: People with adult-onset hearing loss (AoHL) are at increased dementia risk. In this study, we explore potential aetiological mechanisms by synthesising the evidence on the association between AoHL and neuropathological, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), blood and imaging biomarkers of dementia.
Methods: We systematically searched electronic databases from inception to 30 April 2024 for cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, including quantitative data on the association between AoHL and dementia biomarkers.

Background: Down syndrome (DS) is the most common congenital neurodevelopmental disorder, present in about 1 in every 700 live births.
