Chemo-enzymatic methods for covalently crosslinking carrier proteins with partner enzymes within modular synthases hold promise for elucidating and engineering metabolic pathways. Our efforts to crystallize the ACP-KS complexes of fatty acid synthases have been complicated by difficulties in the purification of the crosslinked complex from the other proteins in the reaction. Here we present a solution that employs an orthogonal purification strategy to achieve the quantity and level of purity necessary for further studies of this complex.

Bu Shen Jian Gu Oral Liquid (BSJG) is a hospital formulation commonly utilized in the treatment of fractures, joint dislocations, and rheumatoid arthritis. However, there has been no effective and straightforward method to comprehensively assess the quality of BSJG. In this experiment, a fingerprint of various batches of BSJG was established using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Background: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) rank among the most prevalent acute infectious conditions and remain a major global public health concern. Notable STI pathogens include Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG). Early detection and diagnosis are crucial for controlling the spread of STIs.

Host cell proteins (HCPs) coexpressed during the production of biotherapeutics can affect the safety, efficacy, and stability of the final product. As such, monitoring HCP populations and amounts throughout the production and purification process is an essential part of the overall quality control framework. Mass spectrometry (MS) is used as an orthogonal method to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) for the simultaneous identification and quantification of HCPs, particularly for the analysis of downstream processes.

Due to the aggravation of atmospheric nitrogen and sulfur deposition and the unreasonable application of fertilizer, soil acidification is becoming increasingly serious. In heavy metal-contaminated soils, acidification not only seriously affects fertility but also the effectiveness and sustainability of conventional passivation remediation materials such as biochar. The application of calcium fertilizer may improve soil acidification, alleviate the aging of biochar materials in soil, and improve its remediation ability to composite polluted soil.

A colorimetric sensor array is proposed for ultrasensitive detection and identification of bacteria by using Cl at various concentrations as sensing elements and triangular silver nanoparticles (T-AgNPs) as a single sensing nanoprobe. T-AgNPs are easily etched by Cl. However, in the presence of bacteria, the etching process will be hindered.
