After removing gliadin and other proteins with 7.5% 2-propanol and 0.3 mol/L NaI, the total glutenin subunits were extracted with two kinds of buffer, one containing 25% 2-propanol, 0.04 mol/L Tris-HCI (pH=8.0), 10% SDS and 2% DDT and the other containing 25% 2-propanol, 0.04 mol/L Tris-HCI (pH=8.0), 10% SDS and 1.4% VP. In SDS-PAGE electrophoresis (4% stacking gel and 13% resolving ge1) system HMW-GS and LMW-GS were clearly separated by the improved method with only a single step. The background of the SDS-PAGE gel was gliadin-free. It was more effective and applicable to separate and distinguish the complex LMW-GS. This method will be used in wheat protein separation, variety identification and improvement.

Olean is the chiral spiroacetal sex pheromone of the female olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that the (R)-(-)-olean enantiomer is active on males, whereas females respond to (S)-(+)-olean. Here we present the first HPLC enantioseparation of olean using polysaccharide derivatives as chiral stationary phases and a polarimetric detector equipped with a micro-flow cell capable of detecting optical rotation at six different wavelengths.

This study aimed to optimize the kinetic resolution of building blocks for the synthesis of β-blockers using lipases, which could be potentially used to synthesize enantiomerically pure β-blockers further. Reaction mixtures were incubated in a thermostated shaker. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the reaction mixtures were performed using chiral stationary phases and the UPLC-IT-TOF system.

Membrane-based pervaporation (PV) for organic solvent dehydration is of great significance in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In this work, high-aluminum ZSM-5 zeolite membranes were synthesized by a fluoride-assisted secondary growth on α-alumina tubular supports using mordenite framework inverted (MFI) nanoseeds (~110 nm) and a template-free synthesis solution with a low Si/Al ratio of 10. Characterization by XRD, EDX, and SEM revealed that the prepared membrane was a pure-phase ZSM-5 zeolite membrane with a Si/Al ratio of 3.

Transmembrane water permeability changes occur after initialization of necrosis and are a mechanism for early detection of cell death. Filter-exchange spectroscopy (FEXSY) is sensitive to transmembrane water permeability and enables its quantification by magnetic resonance via the apparent exchange rate (AXR). In this study, we investigate AXR changes during necrotic cell death.
