The nomenclature used to describe findings during early pregnancy in The Netherlands needs to be revised. Various terms, like 'abortion' and 'miscarriage', are used to describe the same phenomenon, which is confusing for both patients and doctors. In addition, the meaning of some terms, like 'missed abortion', has changed over time. In accordance with the revision of the European nomenclature in the English language by the Special Interest Group for Early Pregnancy of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), a revision of the nomenclature in the Dutch language is needed as well. An unambiguous Dutch terminology pertaining to early pregnancy is recommended that corresponds to the English terminology; this includes the Dutch terms 'embryo' [embryo], 'foetus' [foetus], 'biochemische zwangerschap' [biochemical pregnancy], 'zwangerschap met onbekende lokalisatie' [pregnancy of unknown location], 'miskraam' [miscarriage], 'lege vruchtzak' [empty sac], 'gestopte hart-activiteit' [fetal loss], 'herhaalde miskraam' [recurrent miscarriage], 'extra-uteriene zwangerschap' [ectopic pregnancy], and 'trofoblast-ziekte' [gestational trophoblastic disease], because these are based on well-defined clinical and ultrasonographic concepts.

Purpose: Liquid biopsy technology has received widespread attention in the early diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA).
Methods: We collected bile samples from 48 patients with CCA and 48 patients with gallstones at Shandong Provincial third Hospital. We quantified bile circulating free DNA (cfDNA) of syncytin-1 and SLC7A11, calculated the correlation between syncytin-1 and SLC7A11 expression and clinical parameters by Spearman rank correlation, plotted Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves, and compared the Area Under Curve (AUC) values to explored early diagnostic utility in patients.

Objectives: Investigate associations of different family healthy lifestyle scores (HLS) during the first 1000 days with childhood overweight and obesity (OWOB).
Methods: Cohort-specific analyses were conducted on participants (n = 25 006) from 4 European birth cohorts (The study on the pre- and early postnatal determinants of child health and development [EDEN], Elfe, France; Generation R, the Netherlands; and Lifeways, Ireland). Three composite HLSs were calculated: a maternal pregnancy HLS based on prepregnancy body mass index (BMI) and diet quality, physical activity, smoking status, and alcohol consumption during pregnancy; a parental pregnancy HLS additionally considering paternal BMI and smoking status; and an infancy HLS based on breastfeeding duration, age of solid food introduction, and exposure to passive smoking.

Gestational 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) is important in fetal lung development and may influence offspring respiratory outcomes, making accurate exposure assessment essential to understand clinical associations. Therefore, we used the combined data from two large RCTs investigating prenatal vitamin D supplementation, which included early and late prenatal 25(OH)D measurements, to refine a population pharmacokinetic model of vitamin D-25(OH)D and estimate individual area under the curve (AUC) Z-scores. The primary outcome was physician-diagnosed offspring asthma/wheezing at ages 3 and 6 years, and lung function, as a secondary outcome, was evaluated by spirometry at the ages 6 and 8 years.

New paternity has been related to placenta-associated complications in pregnancy. We evaluated whether a lack of earlier pregnancies or deliveries with a current father are associated with the pregnancy, prenatal, and early neonatal outcomes after controlling for the most common maternal confounders in prospective birth cohort study. An online questionnaire was used to survey 4459 pregnant women from the Kuopio Birth Cohort in their third trimester.

Purpose: Early detection and management of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy and postpartum are essential. This systematic review and meta analysis aimed: (1) to examine the state of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) use, and (2) in a subset of studies, evaluate 24-hour ABP parameters in the prediction and identification of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP).
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in March of 2022 for English language studies published after 2000.
