Objectives: The 5-hydroxytryptamine 3 receptor antagonists, including tropisetron, ondansetron, granisetron, and dolasetron are agents used effectively for supportive care. They are used for the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy-induced emesis. Despite their overall excellent safety profile, some electrocardiographic changes related to heart rate and repolarization were reported. Ondansetron, granisetron, and dolasetron were studied on this manner. But to our knowledge, there is no information about the cardiac side effects of tropisetron. In this study, we aimed to determine the acute effects of tropisetron on ECG parameters related to repolarization, heart rate, and systemic blood pressure.
Materials And Methods: Fifty-five cancer patients who received tropisetron for the prevention of acute chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting were enrolled into this single center, prospective study. Standard 12-lead ECG recordings were performed at baseline and 30 min after tropisetron (5 mg given over 1 min IV bolus) administration. P wave durations and corrected QT intervals were measured; P wave dispersion and QTc dispersion were calculated.
Results: In comparison with baseline, mean heart rate significantly decreased 30 min after administration of tropisetron. Tropisetron did not result in a significant change in P wave duration, corrected QT interval, P dispersion, and QTc dispersion.
Conclusion: In this study, tropisetron did not show any ventricular and atrial arrhythmogenic effect because of repolarization abnormalities. Only it may cause a slight decrease in heart rate.

Aims: Previous studies have shown that eGDR and TyG, as indicators of insulin resistance (IR), were key risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Our study further explored the relationship between eGDR change and new-onset CVD, and compared the predictive value of eGDR change, eGDR and TyG.
Materials And Methods: A total of 2895 participants without CVD at baseline from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were included, using K-means clustering and cumulative eGDR to measure eGDR change between 2012 and 2015.

Background: "Active" heat acclimation (exercise-in-the-heat) can improve exercise performance but the efficacy of "passive" heat acclimation using post-exercise heat exposure is unclear. Therefore, we synthesised a systematic review and meta-analysis to answer whether post-exercise heat exposure improves exercise performance.
Methods: Five databases were searched to identify studies including: (i) healthy adults; (ii) an exercise training intervention with post-exercise heat exposure via sauna or hot water immersion (treatment group); (iii) a non-heat exposure control group completing the same training; and (iv) outcomes measuring exercise performance in the heat (primary outcome), or performance in thermoneutral conditions, V̇Omax, lactate threshold, economy, heart rate, RPE, core temperature, sweat rate, and thermal sensations.
Kawasaki disease (KD) is a leading cause of acquired heart disease in children, often resulting in coronary artery complications such as dilation, aneurysms, and stenosis. While intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is effective in reducing immunologic inflammation, 10-15% of patients do not respond to initial therapy, and some show resistance even after two consecutive treatments. Predicting which patients will not respond to these two IVIG treatments is crucial for guiding treatment strategies and improving outcomes.

Methods: This multicenter study in Korea assessed the nutritional status of 1,088 adults with severe COVID-19 using the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) based on serum albumin levels and body weight. The patients were divided into the GNRI>98 (no-risk) and GNRI≤98 (risk) groups.
