Introduction: In case of failure of oral rehydration, children with acute gastroenteritis can be hydrated using intravenous (IV) solution. The choice of the intravenous solution itself (solutions containing dextrose versus crystalloids alone) and the glucose quantities to administer are not well established.
Objectives: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the association between the amount of intravenous glucose provided and hospitalization for children with acute gastroenteritis.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by relapsing inflammation of the colon. Tanshinone IIA, a compound derived from traditional Chinese medicine, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties and may enhance treatment outcomes when combined with mesalazine. This study aims to determine the overall response rate of Tanshinone IIA in combination with mesalazine for the treatment of UC.

Background And Aims: Vedolizumab is a humanized gut selective drug that targets α4β7 integrin and has been used successfully in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Pivotal studies have already demonstrated the drug's safety, but some real-life cohorts have shown an increase in arthralgia and arthritis in patients using vedolizumab. These findings raised the question of whether these joint symptoms are extraintestinal manifestations of IBD (since the drug acts only in the gut) or if they are associated with the use of vedolizumab.

Documenting the associations of loneliness and social isolation with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) symptoms, disease severity, and treatment outcomes could meaningfully improve health and quality of life in patients with IBD.
Purpose: The purpose of this narrative review was to synthesize the empirical evidence on the associations of loneliness and social isolation with IBD symptoms, disease severity, and treatment outcomes.

Background: Globally, gastroenteritis (GE) significantly impacts children's health and contributes to societal, economic, and health burdens. Previous studies reporting risk factors of GE in children in high-income settings mainly rely on outbreak investigations, which inherently capture only a fractional representation of the overall spectrum of GE occurrences. In addition, there is paucity of comprehensive information pertaining to modifiable risk factors of GE.
