This article reports the structural elucidation by IR, UV and MS spectroscopic data along with 1H and 13C NMR chemical shift assignments of two benzophenones isolated from the fruit pericarp of Garcinia brasiliensis Mart. (Clusiaceae): garciniaphenone, (1R,5S,7S)-3-benzoyl-4-hydroxy-6,6-dimethyl-5,7-di(3-methyl-2-butenyl)bicyclo[3.3.1]non-3-ene-2,9-dione, a novel triprenylated benzophenone; and 7-epi-clusianone, a tetraprenylated benzophenone that has already been extracted from another species of the same family. Furthermore, the keto-enol tautomeric equilibrium at solution-state was described for these compounds by 1D and 2D NMR spectral methods and one attempt to rationalize the different ratios between the noted tautomers was based on stereochemical features.

Vinylene-linked Covalent Organic Frameworks (V-2D-COFs) are a class of promising porous organic materials that feature fully π-conjugated structures, high crystallinity, ultrahigh chemical stability, and extraordinary optoelectronic properties. However, the types of reactions and the availability of monomers for synthesizing linked COFs are considerably limited by the irreversibility of the C═C bond, and the complete π-conjugated structure restricts their in-depth research in hydrophilicity, membrane materials, and proton conductivity. Postsynthetic modification (PSM), which can avoid these problems by incorporating functional moieties into the predetermined framework, provides an alternative way to construct diverse V-2D-COFs.

Background: Heparan sulfate (HS) interacts with many important proteins. These interactions are primarily driven by electrostatics, with specificity determined by sulfation patterns. Although 3-O-sulfation is a rare modification in HS, several genome-wide association studies (GWAS) revealed that the Hs3st1 gene, encoding HS-3-O-sulfotransferase-1, is significantly linked to late onset AD risk.

A series of novel isatin-oxime ether derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized by H NMR and C NMR and HRMS. These compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity against three human cancer cell lines (A549, HepG2 and Hela) by MTT assay. According to the experimental results, compounds 6a (IC = 0.

New formyl indole derivatives based on thiobarbituric acid were designed for targeting parasitological applications. The new compounds (5-((1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)-2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (3a), and 5-((1-benzyl-1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)-2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (3b) were synthesized as thioxodihydropyrimidine derivatives via aldol condensation reaction. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed based on their spectral data via FT-IR, H and C NMR spectral characterization.

Cytotoxic Ruthenium(II)-diphosphine Complexes affect the Mitochondrial Respiration of Lung Cancer Cells.

Chembiochem

January 2025

Universidade Federal de São Carlos: Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos, Departament of Chemistry, 13565-905, São Carlos, BRAZIL.

In this work, we studied six Ruthenium(II)-diphosphine compounds containing different mercapto ligands (N-S), with general formula [Ru(N-S)(dppm)2]Cl (dppm = 1,1-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane). These compounds were characterized by several techniques (NMR [1H, 31P(1H), and 13C], HRMS, IR, UV-Vis and XRD) and their purity confirmed by elemental analysis. DLS experiments revealed low diameters and polydispersity indexes, and positive log P values in n-octanol/PBS indicated their preference for the organic phase.
