White matter damage and subsequent demyelination significantly contribute to long-term functional impairment after ischaemic stroke. Identifying novel pharmacological targets to restore myelin integrity by promoting the maturation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) into new myelinating oligodendrocytes may open new perspectives for ischaemic stroke treatment. In this respect, previous studies highlighted the role of the G protein-coupled membrane receptor 17 (GPR17) as a key regulator of OPC differentiation in experimental models of brain injury, including ischaemic stroke.

Patients undergoing bariatric surgical procedures usually exhibit breast ptosis due to the quick weight loss. In this type of patients, the mastopexy represents a challenge for plastic surgeons considering the abundance of dystrophic cutaneous tissue, the loss of subcutaneous tissue and the impossibility to employ heterologous devices in the setting of Italian public healthcare. In addition, it is necessary to consider that patients undergoing post-bariatric surgery have increasingly high expectations.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is an umbrella term for a group of rare inherited skin disorders characterised by mucocutaneous fragility. Patients suffer from blisters and chronic wounds that arise spontaneously or following minor mechanical trauma, often resulting in inflammation, scarring and fibrosis due to poor healing. The recessive form of dystrophic EB (RDEB) has a particularly severe phenotype and is caused by mutations in the COL7A1 gene, encoding the collagen VII protein, which is responsible for adhering the epidermis and dermis together.

: Symptomatic calcifications of the breast or skin after breast cancer surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy are a rare entity, with only a few case reports published worldwide, reducing the patient's quality of life, whilst asymptomatic calcifications are a common finding on imaging methods. : Herein, we present a rare case report of calcifications after mastectomy and post-mastectomy radiation therapy causing chronic inflammation with ulceration and fistula formation, with a two-step surgical approach consisting of excision with linear suture and excision with the reconstruction using a thoraco-epigastric flap. : To our knowledge, this is the first publication proving the feasibility of this therapy in patients with symptomatic dystrophic calcifications of the skin or the breast.
