Single molecule magnets (SMM) are a class of molecules exhibiting magnetic properties similar to those observed in conventional bulk magnets, but of molecular origin. SMMs have been proposed as potential candidates for several technological applications that require highly controlled thin films and patterns. Here we present an overview of the most important approaches for thin film growth and micro(nano)-patterning of SMM, giving special attention to Mn(12) based molecules. We present both conventional approaches to thin film growth (Langmuir-Blodgett, chemical approach, dip and dry, laser evaporation), patterning (micro-contact printing, deposition on patterned surface, moulding of homogeneous films) and new methods specifically developed for SMM (lithographically controlled wetting, lithographically controlled de-mixing).

Synthetic lethality in homologous recombination (HR)-deficient cancers caused by Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) has been classically attributed to its role in DNA repair. The mode of action of PARPi and resistance thereof are now believed to be predominantly replication associated. Therefore, effective combinatorial approaches of targeting replication fork processing along with HR-downregulation to target HR-proficient and possibly PARPi-resistant tumors are warranted.

Consistently arranging molecules within single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) templates shows promise for creating advanced 1D heterostructures, but diameter variations in raw SWCNTs pose a significant challenge. In this work, a precise synthesis of C fullerene-filled SWCNTs (C@SWCNTs) is achieved through vapor-phase filling followed by polymer sorting. As the SWCNT diameter increases, C molecules first stack in a single chain, then form unusual configurations, including staggered double chains and double helices-configurations not observed in bulk C crystals.

The strong electrophilicity of arylpyrylium salts was recognized for the colorimetric detection of vital amine analytes, limited to ammonia or methylamines and putrescine as biogenic amine. This report presents conformationally twisted, electrophilic triphenylamine-linked 2,4,6-tristyrylpyrylium salt PyTPA as a single dye to sense various aliphatic/aromatic biogenic amines, nicotine, and guanidine rapidly in nanomolar concentrations. This unexplored styrylpyrylium design offers specific electronic conjugations, steric/geometric constraints with hydrophobicity, and decent thermal/photostability, facilitating precise diverse amines detection in unique fashions.

Multimodal phototheranostics utilizing single molecules offer a "one-and-done" approach, presenting a convenient and effective strategy for cancer therapy. However, therapies based on conventional photosensitizers often suffer from limitations such as a single photosensitizing mechanism, restricted tumor penetration and retention, and the requirement for multiple irradiations, which significantly constrain their application. In this report, we present an aggregation-induced emission luminogen (AIEgen) bacteria hybrid bionic robot to address above issues.

Chemotherapy remains a vital component of cancer treatment, with combination therapy widely used in clinical practice to overcome the limitations of single-drug administration. However, challenges persist including pharmacokinetic discrepancies among different pharmaceutical agents, and insufficient synergistic efficiency in small-molecule drug combinations. There is an urgent need to develop more efficient combination therapy strategies.
