We investigated the anharmonicity and intermolecular interactions of N-methylformamide (NMF) and di-N,N-methylformamide (DMF) in the neat liquid phase with particular interest in the amide bands. The vibrational spectra, complex refractive index, and complex electric permittivity were determined in in the mid- (MIR) and near-infrared (NIR) regions (11,500-560 cm; 870-17857 nm). Dispersion analysis was based on the Classical Damped Harmonic Oscillator (CDHO) and simultaneous modelling of the real and imaginary components of the spectra.

Root knot nematodes cause serious damage to global agricultural production annually. Given that traditional chemical fumigant nematicides are harmful to non-target organisms and the environment, the development of biocontrol strategies has attracted significant attention in recent years. In this study, it was found that the Berliner strain NBIN-863 exhibits strong fumigant nematicidal activity and has a high attraction effect on (Kofoid and White) Chitwood.

In the title compound, CHNO·CHNO, the asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules and , each of which has one DMF solvate mol-ecule. Mol-ecules and both feature intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming (6) ring motifs and consolidating the mol-ecular configuration. In the crystal, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules and , forming (8) ring motifs.

N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) is widely used in various industries, but its direct release into water poses high risks to human beings. Although a lot of DMF-degrading bacteria has been isolated, limited studies focus on the degradation preference among DMF and its analogues.
