Single-channel demodulator and Hartley transform in MRI.

Published: October 2012

A single-channel alternative detection system for magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy experiments is presented. After the phase error identification, which is realized through a simple method, one can correct the reconstructed image and discriminate between positive and negative frequencies without any loss of the S/N ratio. Since there is only one channel, that is a real signal, it is possible to use the Hartley instead of the Fourier transform. The former is faster and requires less storage memory.

Multiple quantum well (MQW) III-nitride diodes can emit light and detect light at the same time. In particular, given the overlapping region between the emission spectrum and the detection spectrum, the III-nitride diode can absorb photons of shorter wavelengths generated from another III-nitride diode with the same MQW structure. In this study, a wireless visible light communication system was established using two pairs of identical III-nitride diodes with different wavelengths.

Analog-to-Information Conversion with Random Interval Integration.

Sensors (Basel)

May 2021

Department of Electronics and Multimedia Communications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Kosice, 040 01 Kosice, Slovakia.

A novel method of analog-to-information conversion-the random interval integration-is proposed and studied in this paper. This method is intended primarily for compressed sensing of aperiodic or quasiperiodic signals acquired by commonly used sensors such as ECG, environmental, and other sensors, the output of which can be modeled by multi-harmonic signals. The main idea of the method is based on input signal integration by a randomly resettable integrator before the AD conversion.

A Filtering Algorithm of MEMS Gyroscope to Resist Acoustic Interference.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2020

The Key Laboratory of Photonics Information Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, School of Optics and Photonics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing 100086, China.

To reduce the impact of acoustic interference in a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope and to improve the reliability of output data, a filtering algorithm based on orthogonal demodulation is proposed. According to the working principle and failure mechanism of a MEMS gyroscope, the sound and angular velocity frequencies are not identical, which lead to a different frequency signal output of the original single-channel demodulation scheme. Therefore, a Q channel demodulation filtering process was added to the origin single-channel demodulation scheme.

Thermodynamics-based Cognitive Demodulation for 'THz Torch' Wireless Communications Links.

Sci Rep

April 2020

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College London, London, SW7 2AZ, UK.

The low-cost 'THz Torch' technology, which exploits the thermal infrared spectrum (ca. 10 to 100 THz), was recently introduced to provide secure low data rate communications links across short distances. In this paper, a thermodynamics-based approach is proposed for greatly enhancing the sensitivity of detection with non-stationary thermal radiation, generated by thermal emitters that have been modulated well beyond their thermal time constants.

A quadrature synthetic aperture front-end receiver for B-mode ultrasound imaging is presented. The receiver targets small-scale imaging applications such as capsule endoscopy and low-cost portable devices. System complexity, area, power consumption, and cost are minimized using synthetic aperture beamforming (SAB), whereby signals are processed in a sequential manner using only a single channel.
