Objective: To report our experience of 11 children with pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction (PUJO) in a duplex kidney and to review previous reports.

Patients And Methods: From 1995 to 2005 the second author (G.H.H.S.) performed 145 pyeloplasties in single-system kidneys and in 11 children with PUJO in a duplex kidney. Upper and lower pole obstructions were found in both complete and incomplete duplicated systems. Investigations included renal ultrasonography, renal scintigraphy, micturating cystography, cystoscopy and retrograde pyelography. Ten patients had surgery (eight dismembered pyeloplasties, one upper-pole heminephrectomy, one pyelo-ureterostomy).

Results: Three children had obstruction of the upper moiety and eight had obstruction of the lower moiety. Upper and lower pole obstructions were found in both complete and incomplete duplicated systems.

Conclusion: Upper-pole obstruction in a duplex kidney is rare; the present series suggests that it is more common than previously reported.

Background: Flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) is increasingly used as the first-line treatment for urological procedures. Disposable digital (dd-)FURS has been developed to overcome limitations such as durability, degradation, and repair cost of reusable scopes. The diameter of commercially-available models ranges from 7.

Objective: Coral reef atherosclerosis of the visceral aorta (CRA) is associated with renovascular hypertension (RVH), chronic mesenteric ischaemia (CMI), and malperfusion of the lower limbs (PAD). The outcomes of open surgery for this rare disease are described in this paper.

Methods: This retrospective study included all patients who underwent open surgical repair of CRA at a single high volume referral centre between January 2009 and June 2023.

We present a case of biopsy-proven epithelioid angiosarcoma in an arteriovenous fistula (AVF). Angiosarcomas developing in non-functioning AVF in renal transplant recipients are rare clinical entities with poor prognosis. A 59-year-old male adequately immunosuppressed kidney transplant patient presented with pain and swelling at the site of a previously asymptomatic fistula.

Aim: The present study aimed to assess the diagnostic efficacy of contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography (ceVUS) using SonoVue for evaluating duplex kidneys, and to compare it with fluoroscopic voiding cystourethrography (VCUG).

Material And Methods: Forty-six children with duplex kidneys confirmed by surgical intervention or cystoscopy were included in the study, resulting in a total of 46 duplex kidneys and 46 normal kidneys (138 pyeloureteral units).

Results: The overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of RBUS for diagnosing duplex kidney disease were 73.

Introduction: To evaluate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of different pyeloplasty procedure approaches for pelvicureteric junction (PUJ) obstruction in kidney anomalies. The presence of difficult, unfamiliar and anomalous anatomy makes pyeloplasty challenging in these conditions.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of pyeloplasty in patients with congenital anomalous kidneys at our national tertiary referral centre.
