We determined the solution structure of At3g28950 from A. thaliana, a homolog of At5g39720, whose structure we solved earlier. The secondary structure of the 165-aa protein consists of a 5-strand antiparallel beta-barrel domain flanked by two alpha-helices and a 2-strand beta-sheet; an additional free C-terminal alpha-helix extends into solution. Bioinformatic searches and analyses suggest that members of this growing set of structurally related proteins have been recruited to serve a wide variety of functions ranging from gamma-glutamyl cyclotransferase activity to participation in plant responses to chemical and biotic stimuli. Expression of a human homolog is elevated in bladder cancer tissues. Expression patterns for At3g28950 and its Arabidopsis paralogs suggest that each one evolved a different physiological role. The At3g28950 structure was solved as part of a structural genomics effort, and the results demonstrate how such a project can further understanding of genome evolution in addition to sequence-structure and structure-function relationships. The ligand-docking behavior of hevein, the major latex protein from the rubber tree Hevea brasiliensis (Euphorbiaceae), has been investigated by the unguided molecular dynamics (MD) simulation method. An oligosaccharide molecule, initially placed in an arbitrary position, was allowed to move around hevein for a prolonged simulation time, on the order of microseconds, with the expectation of spontaneous ligand docking of the oligosaccharide molecule to the binding site of hevein. In the binary solution system consisting of a hevein molecule and a chito-trisaccharide (GlcNAc) molecule, three out of the six separate simulation runs successfully reproduced the complex structure of the observed binding from.

Introduction: While cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) remains a highly effective psychotherapy approach for managing Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), its potential is hindered by workforce shortages and access barriers. In response to these challenges, Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (iCBT) has emerged as an innovative solution that integrates the core CBT structure with technology. In iCBT, educational materials, therapist communication and progress dashboards can be centralized in a digital format, and delivered in a self-guided, therapist-guided or blended approach.

Objectives: Language is a critical aspect of human cognition and function, and its preservation is a priority for neurosurgical interventions in the left frontal operculum. However, identification of language areas can be inconsistent, even with electrical mapping. The use of multimodal structural and functional neuroimaging in conjunction with intraoperative neuromonitoring may augment cortical language area identification to guide the resection of left frontal opercular lesions.

The impact of different turbulence on beams can be seen as optical distortions caused by refractive index fluctuations around vortices in turbulence. Therefore, from the perspective of transmission effects, the transmission outcomes of beam in different turbulences can be mutually equivalent. Since the mechanisms of beam propagation in compressible turbulence are not yet fully understood and the relevant theories are not well-established, a preliminary analysis of beam transmission in compressible turbulence is necessary.

Nature offers unique examples that help humans produce artificial systems which mimic specific functions of living organisms and provide solutions to complex technical problems of the modern world. For example, the development of 3D micro-nanostructures that mimic nocturnal insect eyes (optimized for night vision), emerges as promising technology for detection in IR spectral region. Here, we report a proof of principle concerning the design and laser 3D printing of all ultrastructural details of nocturnal moth Grapholita Funebrana eyes, for potential use as microlens arrays for IR detection systems.
