The National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP), American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT), and American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) believe that evidence-based, pragmatic, and collaborative protocols addressing the care of patients with traumatic out-of-hospital circulatory arrest (TOHCA) are needed to optimize patient outcomes and clinician safety. Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility and surgical and patient-reported outcomes of nontransecting anastomotic urethroplasty (NTAU) for male patients with pelvic fracture urethral injury (PFUI) compared with excision and primary anastomosis (EPA), the current mainstay surgical approach.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 233 male PFUI patients treated with EPA (n = 223) or NTAU (n = 10) from 2008 to 2024 by a single surgeon (AH). NTAU involves preserving urethral continuity and maintaining bilateral bulbar artery integrity while excising scar tissue and achieving tension-free urethral anastomosis.

Objective: To compare the bone cement diffusion and clinical effects between conventional percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) and the application of positioning reduction and targeted puncture techniques in the treatment of elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.
Methods: A retrospective comparative study was conducted, analyzing the clinical data of 268 elderly patients with single-level vertebral fractures admitted between January 2021 and March 2023. The patients were divided into two groups:the conventional PVP group (138 cases) and the targeted PVP group (130 cases).

A global discourse continues to emphasize the importance of integrating the social sciences into health governance and systems research, including in the global animal health sector. By comparison to human health, however, it is unclear how far this discourse has changed institutional practices in animal health and what opportunities exist to strengthen this integration. We conducted a qualitative study to address these knowledge gaps, based on 29 semi-structured key informant interviews (KII) with experts involved in the global governance of animal health and biosecurity across five regions between November 2022 and June 2023.

A spayed female Miniature dachshund presented with a large mediastinal mass. During thymectomy, the left phrenic nerve, which was encircled by the neoplastic tissue, was resected en bloc with the tumour and the right phrenic nerve was damaged by thermal coagulation from electrosurgery. Postoperatively, the dog exhibited significant respiratory distress and paradoxical respiratory movement.
