Among 515 young subjects with ischemic stroke, 8 (1,5%) patients (6 female, 2 male, mean age 31,6 years) had stroke, which developed as the result of massive blood loss. In 6 patients stroke was localized in carotid arteries, in 2 - in vertebrobasilar vessels. The course and outcome of the disease were relatively favorable.

Introduction: Hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable deaths in trauma patients, resulting in 1.5 million deaths annually worldwide. Traditional trauma assessment follows the ABC (airway, breathing, circulation) sequence; evidence suggests the CAB (circulation, airway, breathing) approach to maintain perfusion and prevent hypotension.

Background: Clonal myeloproliferation and fibrotic transformation of the bone marrow (BM) are the pathogenetic events most commonly occurring in myelofibrosis (MF). There is great evidence indicating that tumor microenvironment is characterized by high lactate levels, acting not only as an energetic source, but also as a signaling molecule.
Methods: To test the involvement of lactate in MF milieu transformation, we measured its levels in MF patients' sera, eventually finding a massive accumulation of this metabolite, which we showed to promote the expansion of immunosuppressive subsets.

This case emphasises the difficulties in diagnosing a patient with brisk active small bowel bleeding and the differential diagnostic process of identifying tumour types preoperatively using imaging information. This case also underscores the importance of the surgical approach in different scenarios. Despite advancements in small bowel imaging, identifying the source and causes of small bowel bleeding remains challenging, particularly in life-threatening situations.

Existing systems for predicting MT need in trauma patients have not been systematically evaluated for their relevance to the geriatric population. This study aimed to evaluate the predictive accuracy of initial vital signs and the Glasgow coma scale (GCS) in geriatric trauma patients for predicting MT.

Background: In 2012, TQIP guidelines for massive transfusion protocols (MTP) recommended delivery of blood product coolers within 15 minutes. Subsequent work found that every minute delay in cooler arrival was associated with a 5% increased risk of mortality. We sought to assess the impact and sustainability of quality improvement (QI) interventions on time to MTP cooler delivery and their association with trauma patient survival.
