Treatment of Seizures in People with Intellectual Disability.

CNS Drugs

January 2025

Cornwall Intellectual Disability Equitable Research (CIDER), University of Plymouth, Truro, England.

There is a synergistic relationship between epilepsy and intellectual disability (ID), and the approach to managing people with these conditions needs to be holistic. Epilepsy is the main co-morbidity associated with ID, and clinical presentation tends to be complex, associated with higher rates of treatment resistance, multi-morbidity and premature mortality. Despite this relationship, there is limited level 1 evidence to inform treatment choice for this vulnerable population.

The production of nitrogen oxides (NO = NO + NO ) is substantial in urban areas and from fossil fuel-fired power plants, causing both local and regional pollution, with severe consequences for human health. To estimate their emissions and implement air quality policies, authorities often rely on reported emission inventories. The island of Cyprus is de facto divided into two different political entities, and as a result, such emissions inventories are not systematically available for the whole island.

Decoupling economic growth and carbon emissions is essential to a sustainable high-quality development. As a small unit of the engine of development, more research has begun to focus on city-level issues. In order to fill the gaps in the decoupling research at the city level covering the whole nationwide, this paper applied the bottom-up method to calculate 282 cities' carbon emissions according to China's city-level panel data of terminal energy consumption, and combined Tapio decoupling with LMDI decomposition model to analyze cities' decoupling status and its driving factors.

Latent fingerprints (LFPs) are invisible impressions that need to be developed before being used for criminal investigation; however, existing fingerprint visualization techniques face challenges, such as complex preparation and poor contrast. To advance practical fingerprint detection, green-emissive micron-sized curcumin/kaolin composites were synthesized a facile and cost-effective one-step physical cross-linking method, which exhibited unprecedented performance in developing diversified marks, including LFPs, knuckle prints, palm prints, and footprints, with clear three-level details on various substrates. Notably, the powders successfully developed LFPs that were aged for 30 days and even up to 100 days, meeting the stringent requirements for comprehensive forensic application.
