Two sensitive techniques for temperature imaging by use of acetone planar laser-induced fluorescence, applicable at temperatures up to 1000 K, are introduced and demonstrated. Photophysics data on the wavelength-dependent temperature variation of acetone fluorescence permit the implementation of a single-wavelength technique in environments with constant pressure and constant acetone mole fraction, and a dual-wavelength method can be applied in flows with mixing and (or) chemical reaction. Preliminary imaging results are presented for acetone-air flow over a heated cylinder (single-wavelength strategy) and for a heated laminar jet (dual-wavelength strategy).

Machine learning algorithms have proven to be effective for essential quantum computation tasks such as quantum error correction and quantum control. Efficient hardware implementation of these algorithms at cryogenic temperatures is essential. Here we utilize magnetic topological insulators as memristors (termed magnetic topological memristors) and introduce a cryogenic in-memory computing scheme based on the coexistence of a chiral edge state and a topological surface state.

Terahertz (THz) signals are crucial for ultrawideband communication and high-resolution radar, demanding miniaturized detectors that can simultaneously measure multiple parameters such as intensity, frequency, polarization, and phase. Traditional detectors fail to meet these needs. To address this, we introduce a plasmon polariton atomic cavity (PPAC) detector based on monolayer graphene, offering a multifunctional, monolithic, and miniaturized solution.

Purpose: To develop a low-cost, high-performance, versatile, open-source console for low-field MRI applications that can integrate a multitude of different auxiliary sensors.
Methods: A new MR console was realized with four transmission and eight reception channels. The interface cards for signal transmission and reception are installed in PCI Express slots, allowing console integration in a commercial PC rack.

In this contribution, we apply our newly developed ball-milling platform, which combines Raman spectroscopy and thermal (IR) imaging, as well as acoustic and high-speed optical video recordings, to the synthesis and transformation of citric acid-isonicotinamide (1:2) cocrystal polymorphs in transparent PMMA jars. Particularly, we demonstrate how Raman, temperature, acoustic, and video data are complementary and enable detection and connection of chemical and physical events happening during ball-milling in a time-resolved manner. Importantly, we show that the formation of the three cocrystal polymorphs can be detected through acoustic analyses solely.

Even though it is known to have significant effects on cell viability, its effect on their metabolism remains unexplored. Studying how cryopreservation influences the metabolism of cells is important to guarantee the reliability of samples transported between sites for analysis.
