[Aging of the dental pulp].

Rev Fr Endod

Département d'Odontologie Conservatrice, Faculté d'Odontologie de Marseille.

Published: September 1991

During life, the modifications of the dental pulp are important mostly in the root portion. This area, more than the coronal part of the tooth is submitted to involution and histologic dedifferentiation. Fibrosis and calcification occur leading to severe difficulty in performing endodontic treatment.

Cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of orthodontic bands after aging: an in-vitro study.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Shiraz Institute for Cancer Research, School of Medicine, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, P.O. Box 71345-3119, Shiraz, Iran.

Background: This investigation sought to evaluate cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of two different types of orthodontic bands after aging in acidic and neutral artificial saliva using human gingival fibroblast-like (HGF1-PI 1) cell lines.

Methods: Two commercial brands of orthodontic molar bands (American orthodontic (AO) and 3 S-dental bands), commonly used by orthodontists, were tested. These bands were divided into four groups to examine the effects of aging following thermocycling, and pH variations (pH = 4.

NEAT1 regulates BMSCs aging through disruption of FGF2 nuclear transport.

Stem Cell Res Ther

January 2025

College & Hospital of Stomatology, Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases Research of Anhui Province, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, 230032, China.

Background: The aging of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) impairs bone tissue regeneration, contributing to skeletal disorders. LncRNA NEAT1 is considered as a proliferative inhibitory role during cellular senescence, but the relevant mechanisms remain insufficient. This study aims to elucidate how NEAT1 regulates mitotic proteins during BMSCs aging.

Dental and oral health assessments in the German National Cohort (NAKO).

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Department of Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology and Endodontology, University Medicine Greifswald, Greifswald, Germany.

Background: Despite considerable improvements in oral health in recent decades, caries and periodontitis are still widespread, ranking among the most prevalent diseases worldwide and requiring future research. The German National Cohort (NAKO Gesundheitsstudie, NAKO) is a large-scaled, multidisciplinary, nationwide, multi-centre, population-based, prospective cohort study with oral examinations that aims to provide a resource to study risk factors for major diseases. The aim of the present article is to provide the methodological background, to report on the data quality, and to present initial results of the oral examinations.

This study aimed at assessing the mechanical properties and degradation of commercial bioactive materials. The bioactive materials (Activa Bioactive Restorative, Beautifil Flow Plus F00, F03, Predicta Bulk Bioactive) and composite resin Filtek Supreme Flow were submitted to flexural and diametral tensile strength tests (FS, DTS), modulus of elasticity (ME) evaluation, and analysis of aging in 70% ethanol and saliva on their hardness and sorption. The results for DTS ranged from 33.
