Rhabdomyomatous mesenchymal hamartoma (RMH) is a rare congenital lesion of the dermis and subdermis. It has been described predominantly in newborns, with 30 cases reported in the English literature. Typically, it appears as a skin tag, papule, nodule or a mass involving the face or sternal notch. A 28-day-old girl presented with a 1.4 x 0.8 cm soft skin tag in the right sternoclavicular area. Physical examination revealed no congenital anomalies. A shaved biopsy showed that the core of the lesion contained striated muscle fibers mixed with hair follicles and sebaceous and eccrine glands. Thin epidermis lined the outside of the tag. We report a patient with a RMH in a site not previously reported and discuss the differential diagnosis.

Precisely controlled remodeling of the basement membrane (BM) is crucial for morphogenesis, but its molecular and tissue-level dynamics, underlying mechanisms, and functional significance in mammals remain largely unknown due to limited visualization tools. We developed mouse lines in which the endogenous collagen IV gene (Col4a2) was fused with a fluorescent tag. Through live imaging of developing hair follicles, we reveal a spatial gradient in the turnover rate of COL4A2 that is closely coupled with both the BM expansion rate and the proliferation rate of epithelial progenitors.

Anal fissures (AFs) are a prevalent pathology. Although internal lateral sphincterotomy is still the gold-standard surgery for treating chronic AFs, this procedure is associated with a considerable risk of anal incontinence. This study describes an alternative and minimally invasive technique for treating AFs using photobiomodulation and a high-power diode laser-fissure treatment (LFT) and highlights initial results pertaining to pain.

Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and often life-threatening complex hematologic malignancy that can commonly infiltrate the skin, lymph nodes, central nervous system, and bone marrow. In the setting of the infrequency of confirmed diagnoses of BPDCN, and given limited prospective studies, it has been associated with lackluster outcomes with a median overall survival between 9 and 23 months. We herein discuss our experience treating five consecutive patients with BPDCN at our center since the approval of TAG.
