The FDA "Food and Drug Administration" recently approved a novel co-crystal formulation of Celecoxib (CEX) and Tramadol (TRM) for the treatment of adults suffering from moderate to severe pain in several conditions. This novel combination has advantages over co-administration of the two drugs individually as better patient compliance, synergism and lower therapeutic cost. This work presents the first "High performance Thin Layer Chromatographic" (HPTLC) quantitative analytical technique for CEX and TRM simultaneous assay in bulk, their new dosage form and plasma.

Background: Tramadol is an adulterant of illicit opioids. As it is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor as well as a μ-opioid agonist, tramadol adulteration may worsen overdose signs and symptoms or affect the amount of naloxone patients receive.

Methods: This is a multicenter, prospective cohort of adult patients with suspected opioid overdoses who presented to one of eight United States emergency departments and were included in the Toxicology Investigators Consortium's Fentalog Study.

The emergence of severe headache should be promptly recognized as a potential indicator of large vessel stenosis. In early summer, a wild fledgling kererū () was admitted to a wildlife hospital in Dunedin after falling from its nest and being found on the ground. The bird was underweight, weighing only 391 g (expected weight > 450 g), and determined to be in poor body condition based on palpation of pectoral muscle mass. There was bilateral periorbital swelling and ocular discharge with caseous material blocking the choana.
