Flow electrolytic separation of radionuclides for interference suppression in γ-spectrometry.

Anal Chim Acta

February 2025

Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry, ETH Zürich, Vladimir-Prelog-Weg 1-5/10, Zürich, CH-8093, Switzerland; Laboratory of Radiochemistry, Centre for Nuclear Engineering and Sciences, Paul Scherrer Institute, Forschungsstrasse 111, Villigen PSI, CH-5232, Switzerland. Electronic address:

Background: The direct and accurate measurement of low-level γ-emitters in samples from nuclear facilities is a challenging task due to the presence of high activities of dominant radionuclides. In this case a complex chemical separation is required to remove interfering radionuclides prior to γ-spectrometric analysis. Several radionuclides such as, Ag, Sb, Sn and Te are of relevance for radioanalytical analysis in nuclear facilities.

Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) and urocortins (UCN1, UCN2 and UCN3) belong to the same CRF family of neuropeptides. They regulate the neuroendocrine, autonomic and behavioral responses to stress via two CRF receptors (CRF1 and CRF2). Stress, anxiety and depression affects the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the serotoninergic neurotransmission, both being regulated by CRF and CRF-related peptides.

Brain distribution study of [C]-Riluzole following intranasal administration in mice.

Int J Pharm

January 2025

Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, King's College London, London, United Kingdom; Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. Electronic address:

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) presents a substantial challenge due to its complex nature, limited effective treatment options, and modest benefits from current therapies in slowing disease progression. This study explores the potential of intranasal (IN) delivery to enhance the CNS delivery of riluzole (RLZ), a standard ALS treatment which is subject to blood-brain barrier efflux mechanisms. Additionally, the impact of elacridar (ELC), an efflux pump inhibitor, on IN RLZ CNS bioavailability was examined.

The accuracy of measuring the activity of Lu is crucial for calibrating the instruments employed in clinical applications. To support the measurements of Lu solution, the existing TDCR-Čerenkov method has been extended for this nuclide. The contribution of β and γ transitions from Lu was taken into account in the extended method.

Accurately quantifying specific proteins from complex mixtures like cell lysates, for example, during in vivo studies, is difficult, especially for aggregation-prone proteins. Herein, we describe the development of a specific protein quantification method that combines a solid-state dot blot approach with radiolabel detection via liquid scintillation counting. The specific detection with high sensitivity is achieved by using the Twin-Strep protein affinity tag and tritium-labeled Strep-TactinXT probe.
