19 IMZ-implants with a medium age of incorporation of 10.5 months were examined at four sites concerning their periimplantary situation. Gingival index, bleeding on probing, pocket depth and composition of subgingival plaque corresponded in 67% of the examined sites with periodontal health. Favourable correlations were stated between the values of plaque index and of the bleeding on probing as well as between the wide of fixed gingiva and the dimension of gingival recession. Compared to bridge constructions more unfavourable results concerning the amount of plaque and clinical criteria of the gingival margin were observed in case of mucosal fixed prostheses.

A-kinase anchoring protein 79/150 (AKAP79/150) is a crucial scaffolding protein that positions various proteins at specific synaptic sites to modulate excitatory synaptic intensity. As our understanding of AKAP79/150's biology deepens, along with its significant role in the pathophysiology of various human disorders, there is growing evidence that reveals new opportunities for therapeutic interventions. In this review, we examine the fundamental structure and primary functions of AKAP79/150, emphasizing its pathophysiological mechanisms in different nervous system disorders, particularly inflammatory pain, epilepsy, depression, and Alzheimer's disease.

The C-3 and C-5 substituted 20-deoxyingenol monoesters are important active components in Euphorbiaceae plants. Nonetheless, their similar physical properties make them difficult to distinguish. The present study developed fast and efficient rules for identifying the esterification sites of 20-deoxyingenol based on a series of chemical syntheses of monoesters and literature research, utilizing NMR spectroscopy, optical rotation analysis, and chromatographic retention behavior.

Monitoring phycocyanin in global inland waters by remote sensing: Progress and future developments.

Water Res

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Black Soils Conservation and Utilization, Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun 130102, China.

Cyanobacterial blooms are increasingly becoming major threats to global inland aquatic ecosystems. Phycocyanin (PC), a pigment unique to cyanobacteria, can provide important reference for the study of cyanobacterial blooms warning. New satellite technology and cloud computing platforms have greatly improved research on PC, with the average number of studies examining it having increased from 5 per year before 2018 to 17 per year thereafter.

January 2025

Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Keio University School of Medicine, 35 Shinanomachi, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, 160-8582, Japan.

Objective: Intraoperative systems for monitoring facial nerve function, in which temporal electrical stimulation is applied to the facial nerve through electrodes, are used in many surgeries requiring facial nerve preservation; however, continuous stimulation or quantitative evaluation of facial nerve function is difficult with this approach. We examined the usefulness of a continuous and quantitative facial nerve-monitoring system for temporal bone lesions by using our experience to modify the existing methods used for cases involving vestibular schwannomas.

Study Design: Retrospective observational study.

January 2025

Xiangya School of Public Health, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan Province, PR China. Electronic address:

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are a group of disorders characterized by the progressive loss of neuronal structure and function. The pathogenesis is intricate and involves a network of interactions among multiple causes and systems. Mitochondria and Ca signaling have long been considered to play important roles in the development of various NDs.
